BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A co-defendant in the trial of Saddam Hussein complained on Wednesday about the quality of cigarettes the U.S. military gave him while in custody.

Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Saddam's former intelligence chief and one of his most feared sidekicks, also said the food was bad and he was not given blankets. He lost 18 kilos in just two months in captivity, he complained.

"We were detained by one of the wealthiest countries in the world, yet it was only after four months in detention that they gave me cigarettes," said Barzan, charged with crimes against humanity.

"And then they were of the worst quality in the world."

See - Democracy in Iraq is already working. Their prisoners are well on the way to being the whiners that American prisoners are!

Good thing they don't have a constitution yet, think the Iraqis can execute them all before they vote?

Let's just put panties on his head and hook his private parts up to some electricity. That ought to stop his whining.

What it does is show how these people feel about Americas sense of justice. They cut off the heads of our people, attach them to electrical charges and are as brutal as they can be. They complain over insignificant crap as an in your face because they know these peace nicks will react and the MSM will blow it out for all the world to laugh at. America has become a most stupid country driven by the phony legal system and crooked lawyers. Where else do you hear of this kind of crap and what other news media plays it up as such. Our professions in America need to be put out to pasture in the real world to see what makes it go around.Make this worthless bunch of crap go to work for a living rather than allowing them to live by strirring up crap. Most of them are worthless crap!

Kauthhammer had a great column about this nonsense.

The Iraq court needs to treat these people like the criminals they are. Every time they act like they have power even in a passive way, like bitching about cigarettes, it empowers their followers.

Saddam and his henchmen need to be humbled everyday in public. The Iraq people still fear this man and the court needs to break the psychological hold by making him look broken. The court should put them in prison garb, shackled like the animals they are and drag their asses to court every day. Stick them in a glass box in the center of the courtroom

You bring up a good point. What a dilemma this matter would create for the far left. One the one hand, he is a terrorist in the custody of the US military, so they are compelled to support him. On the other hand, he is pro-smoking, so they would have to oppose him. I wonder how they will resolve this?

It's flagrant mockery and contempt, if you ask me... For the people who are testifying and for the court. Oh, you're accusing me of torturing that non-human over there? Well, this must be the court for trivial crimes. What about the lousy cigarettes I'm getting?

Apparently, the court is willing to tolerate it. The judge should have them severely beaten. And then act mockingly indignant about it when they show up in court with swollen faces and black eyes.

They HAVE a constitution. I'm not surprised that you don't know, since our media hardly bothered to report that in October the Iraqis passed their constitution with over 70% of the vote. Over 11 million people went out and voted (almost 3 million more than voted in the January elections). The constitution passed with the full participation of the Sunni areas.

Has the Iraqi court not yet read the Contempt of Court chapter yet? I am referring to Saddam's outbursts that continue. The creep has an army of lawyers to speak for him but yet they allow him a microphone in his cage. If this and the whining from the soon-to-be-hung continues, this will be a bigger circus and travesty than OJ and MJ trials combined
