Well, you can hate everything your GOVERNMENT does, and assume the worst about those RUNNING your country and still love your country.Right?
I not only question their patriotism:
I question their honesty, their intellect and their sanity.
You can hate the current actions and personnel of a government and still be patriotic, but if you despise the nation's founding principles (such as free and open expression of religion, or the right of the citizenry to keep and bear arms, for example) and root for your nation's defeat by foreign adversaries, you cannot logically call yourself patriotic.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Wrong. The key word here is "everything". In a democratic republic, the people approve the government's actions by consensus. If you hate everything the government is doing, then you hate the will of your fellow citizens and what they stand for. You cannot claim patriotism and loyalty to the citizens of a democracy, and oppose them at every turn.
I have more respect for those honest people who declare their hatred of the "Great Satan" openly than I do for the evil, cynical liars within, who gnaw at the roots of the nation incessantly, like rats.
