Who pulled his chain?
Shouldn't he be looking for a good fraud attorney instead of poking his nose where it doesn't belong?

I have a totally different take on this.
I think Kofi is actually a messenger. The Arabic nations in the U.N. are trying to save face and prevent a war in Iran which will further make them look weak. They see how the United States "the great Satan" is on their turf, disposed of their champion, is kicking the snot out of their "Army of the People", and how it has effected the region not to their advantage.
This is cooler heads worried about keeping them and whats left of the status quo raising a verbal white flag behind the scenes.
The press, the democrat party, and Pat Buchanan can scream bloody quagmire all they want. We have already won this war in Iraq. All that is needed is to recognize it. The only hope for the enemy is we leave by our own choosing. They cant force us. The only hope for the terrorist is Howard Dean and Ted Kennedy get their way.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan late Thursday said the military actions in Iraq are not the solution to improve the situation in the war-torn country and called for negotiations instead
I agree. The solution is to curl up in a fetal position, mewl "please don't hurt me", throw some Jews under the bus, and proudly display the white flag. Now be good little dhimmi's and play along. You'll get a lolipop. (sarcasm off)
Kofi is just a laugh riot!! Can we raze the UN building now?? To describe it as useless would be an understatement.

The only hope for the enemy is we leave by our own choosing. Your entire post is spot-on.
As I told my anti-war brother and sister over Thanskgiving, "you have chosen the wrong side to root for". The UN, the French, the Germans and the Democratic party all stand to lose politically. Iraq will be a political winner for Bush, the outcome is now inevitable, as withdrawal at the proper time will leave the jihad with no one to kill but fellow Arabs and Muslims, not a winner of a strategy that one.

I agree with Anan. We need to negotiate the movement of Iran to the newly discovered 10th planet. Heck we can even let them name it. They will be allowed to keep their nucs and, well all that we ask is that they keep there guard up. Never can tell when those pesky Cardassians or Romulans might come calling.

"'I urge the Government of Iraq to confirm the approval of the agreement in order to place the status of UNAMI in Iraq on a firmer footing and help UNAMI and its staff in the fulfilment of their tasks,' he said.
Despite numerous reminders by the UN, he added, the agreement between the Government of Kuwait and the UN concerning the activities of UNAMI in the State of Kuwait is still awaiting ratification by the relevant authorities of the State of Kuwait."
You've got a good take on it, which makes it even more interesting to note that it doesn't look like the governments of Iraq or Kuwait are in any hurry to sign his 'memos'. Unfortunately, for the Arabic nations, Annan has lots of urges, reminders, memos, a real paper pussy cat and hasn't a shredder of credibility.

Annan will be credible only when he ... is removed from ANY position and is in prison!
There, that's better.

they gave him what? Oh, that's right 18 months to move and/or hide the WMD'S! Not to mention the 12 years of worthless resolutions from the UN.
