I still have a hard time calling Murtha a traitor, just because he threw too much American know-how into Jihadistan after the Soviets had left. There was the soviet puppet regime in power, and the Mujahadeen weren't America's enemies then. Ignorant, short-sighted, blundering, gullible; yes. Traitor, no.
It's interesting though - the article shows how his 1990's experience might be making him very skittish about overstaying our "welcome" in the middle east, and how he could have developed a premise that we never get any credit with the muslims for helping them. We did get some credit with the Kuwaitis. There might be a little guilt in play here, too, for feeding the infant monster.

A little? Afghanistan was the training camps for Al Qaeda. That is why we cleaned out Afghanistan first. We took out the brain that left Al Qaeda as a scattered franchise. Our war with militant Islam started in 1979 when the students took the US Embassy in Iran. What Wilson, Murtha, O'Neill and whoever else was involved did with funding militant Islam is aiding an enemy. And it built them up for all that has happened since.
That sting operation was set up in AbScam because we had politicians taking bribes. It wasn't set up for no reason.
After all those politicians were caught, Torricelli (The Torch) was instrumental in closing down CIA Ops! I can't help but wonder if Clinton wouldn't have been President if The Torch didn't do that. The Torch and Clinton share some of the same financiers! (David Chang, the money launderer)
IMO, I think this is what led to Able Danger. The FBI hit on something that was such a problem, too many judges and politicians with power were sweeping what they have done and were doing under the rug, that Able Danger had to be created.
