When you're down in the polls, let the democrats get a big head, think they're ahead, and keep quiet for months until they start doing all kinds of stupid things.
Then....stuff it down their ignorant throats.

I agree with your take. Timing is everything. If the Republican move against the Democrats too soon, the Democrats and their friends will have time to blunt it before the next election.
But we are just now entering the 2006 election cycle, and it appears this administration is preparing to use the Bully Pulpit.
The Democrats will have a difficult time back tracking. Much of what they have said, they have said on camera. Their own words will come back to haunt them.
