Police: Officer Zaps Partner After Soda Dispute
POSTED: 7:19 am EST December 8, 2005
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. -- Authorities said a police officer in Michigan used a Taser stun gun on his partner during an argument about stopping for a soft drink.
The suspect was fired after the Nov. 3 incident and is charged with assault.
Ronald Dupuis, 32, could get up to 93 days in jail if convicted.
Authorities said Dupuis asked partner Prema Graham to stop at a store for a soft drink, but she refused and instead kept driving back to headquarters.
Authorities said the partners struggled over the steering wheel, and Dupuis hit Graham's leg with his department-issued Taser gun. She wasn't seriously hurt.
It took 20+ posts for this??
People, you're slipping.
No Polish jokes, please! ;-)
I don't care who you are!
Fired? That sounds like good clean fun to me. There was a dispute in the patrol unit, and it was handled properly; trial by combat.
If this had done some tissue damage, we would have a Prema fascia case.
Stun gun the driver... smart.. and funny.
Only jerks call it soda anyway :-)

"But the real question is: how do you pronounce "Hamtramck"?"
It's pronounced "HAM-TRAM-ICK"... The city is also known for passing the Muslim call to prayer 5 times a day over it's city's announcement systems. Go figure.
Regarding the cops: with "partners" like this you don't need criminals to fight. Idiots.
A year ago there was a legal battle over the right of Mosques to use amplifiers to broadcast the daily call to prayer.
Team Ramrod this duo was not...
I have nothing against soda - but I prefer to drink it with some Coke syrup and sweetener added.(otherwise known as Pop!)
Sounds like the guy had a serious addiction to Soda pop.
Also sounds like these two werent partners but seriously disliked each other. Their supervisor should have spotted this and moved them to new partners. Some people just shouldnt work with each other.
We don't have litre cola.
Pole Town.
Is this for real or a Reno 911 episode?
Actually Hamtramck has a border with Highland Park but the two cities are completely surrounded by Detroit. Whose idea was that?
Highland Park used to be pretty ritzy but took a nosedive in the 60's due to the riots but it was actually in decline before that - they were comletely dependent on Chrysler which moved out. Hamtramck held up pretty well neighborhoodwise but is in decline now. Still better than most of Detroit.
Hamtramck has great places for Polish food even though most of the Poles moved out.
A bit of a thread hijack, but it's way more interesting to me than some knuckledragger tasing his partner.
Long ago, Highland Park was way out in the country. Hamtramck is what was left of Hamtramck Township, which included most of east Wayne County. As different towns sprang up, were incorporated and finally annexed by the City of Detroit - there was only one small chunk of the township left. It finally incorporated itself as the city of Hamtramck. By then Detroit had swallowed all the surrounding towns and the rest of the township.
That makes sense. RO, where I live, used to be a real outpost, way before my time of course. Now it's one of the "close-in" suburbs." - and one of the very few that has an actual downtown, as opposed to ugly clumps of strip malls.
This could only happen in a place called Hamtramck.
