Heckling causes Coulter to cut UConn speech short

STORRS, Conn. --Conservative columnist Ann Coulter gave up trying to finish a speech at the University of Connecticut on Wednesday night when boos and jeers from the audience became overwhelming.

Coulter cut off the talk after 15 minutes and instead held a half-hour question-and-answer session.

"I love to engage in repartee with people who are stupider than I am," Coulter told the 2,600 people at Jorgensen Auditorium.

Coulter's appearance prompted protests from several groups, including Students Against Hate and the Puerto Rican/Latin American Cultural Center. They criticized her for spreading a message of hate and intolerance.

Nearly 100 students gathered inside the Student Union for a rally against Coulter. About a half-dozen people held protest signs outside the auditorium.

After a book signing following her appearance, Coulter called the audience's reaction "typical."

Those freedom loving lefties, don`t you just love them?
Imagine if a Liberal, such as Dan Blather, got shouted down while giving a speech?

It's a dark day in the nation's history when an invited speaker can't finish a speech without interruption at a college. The administrators overseeing this particular college are so pitifully ball-less, it would be better if they had committed ritual suicide in some prison camp than supervise America's students now.

Typical for the "free speech for me, but not for thee" crowd.

Hint: you won't be a duplicate poster if you just search on "coulter."

Good manners means you ping the previous post. That way, those who have not seen the topic before will see it, and you respect the first poster.

Ann is doubtless to polite to append:

''...as, for instance, right now.''

Having once attended a different school in Connecticut, 30-odd years ago, it is somehow refreshing to see that the infestation of Storrs by sundry morons has not diminished. Any rational person knew, from simply stepping onto that campus, that the rads were in charge and, sort of, felt ''safe'' courtesy of the alleged administration and also being in a town that no one would ever visit except under duress.

DDT, sadly, is outlawed, -- MIGHT have cleaned out this disease centre long ago, but, who knows -- so perhaps this lot will simply have to wait for medical science to determine that women's basketball leads to some sort of dangerous pathology for the students.

UConn's correct action would be to expel forever any student who interfered with this speaker. Of course, administrators are so cravenly stupid and irresponsible, caring only for paychecks to pay off their miserable little mortgages, they would allow a gang of street thugs to make the campus their home without raising a voice in protest. Come to think of it, that's what they have just done.
