Without any evidence presented other than the high rate of speed, the judge was right. It's nice to see a judge who'll put a strict interpretation of the law above his own personal desire to punish.
I know I'll get flamed for saying so. Just keep in mind that anything you post starting with "what if" is probably other evidence that would, in fact, have made it reckless.

reck·less
adj.
Heedless or careless.
Headstrong; rash.
Indifferent to or disregardful of consequences: a reckless driver.
Looks to me to fit the meaning of reckless driving. The charge was not erratic, but reckless

Exactly right. When I was young, I once found a back road and paced it off to make sure there were no entrances. It was quiet and there were no other vehicles around. Then I took my Supra up to about 120mph. I may have been dumb, but was not risking anyone but myself. It was a thrill.

other than the high rate of speed The belief held by many is that the "high rate of speed" is the factor that constitutes reckless driving. Please count me among them.

"Without any evidence presented other than the high rate of speed, the judge was right. It's nice to see a judge who'll put a strict interpretation of the law above his own personal desire to punish. "I was thinking I would like to have had a judge like this one on my infrequent trips into court.
