Former Terrorists No Longer Speaking At Princeton

(AP) PRINCETON Three ex-terrorists are protesting not being allowed to speak Thursday at Princeton University.

In an unusual claim, they say they are being silenced because of their pro-American, pro-Israeli views—which they say might harm the Ivy League school’s ability to raise money from the oil industry.

A university spokeswoman said the speakers are not being silenced because of their views. Rather, they couldn’t speak this week because the event became bigger than student organizers were prepared to handle.

The former terrorists, Walid Shoebat, Zak Anani and Ibrahim Abdallah, will give their talks Thursday evening at an off-campus location that had not been determined by Wednesday afternoon, said Keith Davies, the executive director of a foundation set up by Shoebat.

All three are Arabs who were members of terrorist groups as teenagers and have since had changes of hearts and now support Israel, the United States and the war against Iraq. Shoebat has appeared worldwide as a news commentator.

“We believe that this is infringement on free speech,” said Davies, who said his group had spent about $30,000 to organize and publicize the talks.

With that kind of money, can they rent a hall or something off campus? Now that many people already heard about the event, I'm sure they'll love to come.

The left can come up with an excuse at a heartbeat to keep any slant different from their own away. These vermin are like a cancer at Americas heart and they control academia.

It is really refreshing to see some sanity on a campus, for a change.

What the Heck does that mean?

They aren't being allowed to speak because there was too much interest?

Not this time. These are former terrorists who have turned their lives around and see terrorism for what it is. This is a loss to the college.

It would be refreshing, but this is not an example of sanity, I'm afraid. These are ex-jihadists who have seriously renounced their beliefs and now support Israel. I've read extensively about Walid Shoebat, who is now an Evangelical Christian who has testified before Congress.

" the war against Iraq."

Was this a purposeful jabor an accidental slip? It is a war IN Iraq, not AGAINST Iraq.

I think it is unfortunate that they won't be speaking. They could speak directly to the Middle East/Pro Palestinian slant that happens to be too common in academia. Let them speak to Hamas' lies.

I believe that Shoebat is also the grandson of the Muftah who embraced Adolf Hitler in WWII. His conversion is a really big deal.

This wouldn't have happened if they'd called these three "insurgents" or "minutemen". };-)
