Well, it is, if there isn't a good reason for it. At this point, it seems to be pretty well established that this guy was a nutcase who didn't have a bomb. So there's little reason to think that other luggage on the flight would be any more likely to contain a bomb than luggage on any other flight. Maybe they're just blowing up bags carrying the ID of the nutcase and his wife. But if they're blowing up other people's bags without REALLY specific reasons, that is problematic. The bags could contain irreplaceable family photos, or other irreplaceable items treasured by perfectly innocent passengers.

Well, it works for me. Neither can I.
After this example of the expertise of the Federal Marshals, I wonder if Chairman Keane of the 9/11 Committee who said yesterday that "We are not safe" will be revising his remarks.
I'd bet that the trained dogs indicated a problem with those specific bags..that's reason enough to blow em up.
All terrorists are nuts. I don't see a problem with linking the two, in fact, I think it's about time.

Well as long as there are idiots out there that wish to bring the US down and terrorize the citizens, then we aren't safe and won't be, probably in my lifetime.
But if we remain vigilant and do things RIGHT then we are doing all we can.
Oh come on...I seriously doubt those small bags contained anything of the sort. They have all the right in the world to blow up something that raises suspicion. The remark that there might be some irreplaceable heirloom is comical at best. imo And yes it was funny!
