And I remember a Meatloaf song in which a boy tries to cajole a girl into having sex. She gets him to pledge undying love to her until the end of time. She's a hard sell, but eventually he gives in and she gives in. And afterward ... he stays with her, even though he doesn't want to. But a promise is a promise.

That is just the lyrics of a song and in no way indicative of the sexual attitudes of the 70s.

Perhaps your town was looser than mine. We were not angels, but we had a sense of right and wrong that was vastly more developed than kids these days.
