Key facts about the reported attack remained unclear Tuesday, including exactly where it happened. A report released by the Douglas County Sheriffs Office said the location was unknown and listed it as south of 31st Street on either East 1400 Road or East 1500 Road.
Louisiana Street turns into East 1400 Road outside the city limits. Haskell Avenue becomes East 1500 Road.
Also, there was conflicting information about whether Mirecki reported it at the scene or at the hospital. In an interview Monday with the Journal-World, he said he called police from the side of the road, but sheriffs officials said they were dispatched to the hospital.
Mirecki declined to clarify the discrepancy when asked about it Tuesday outside the sheriffs office.
I can; I just dont want to, he said.
The sheriffs report, which is classified as an aggravated battery, says that Mirecki suffered minor injuries. It says the incident started about 6:20 a.m. and was reported about 6:40 a.m.
KU faculty on Tuesday pondered the effects that recent weeks events would have on the religious studies department.
I dont think we know how its going to shake out yet, professor Tim Miller said. This is a difficult time to get through. I want to get through as well as we can.
Religious studies professor Jonathan Boyarin said, I hope that we will be able to move forward in our scholarship and teaching with mutual respect among the academic community and the people of Kansas and the larger community around us.

Where is the Evo ping list to this update???????
Exactly!

The press asked him, not the police, while he was waiting to enter the office.
Yes, it was. I try to make it as biting as possible so the /s is not needed. That doesn't seem to work. When I attributed this loony professor's beating to the "course of nature" I was pegged as "gloating" over it. The cause and effect nature of this event seems to be lost on our local scientists.
At 6:40 in the morning, you have three types of people on the road. You have farmers going about their business, workers heading to work, and drunks coming home late from the bar. But you very rarely see people just out driving around looking at the scenery. In the dark.
I may be absent minded, but at least I'm not bird-brained.
Yes, I understand that. But the police maintain in their report that the location of the incident is unknown. How could that be, if he told them (as he claims he can)?
Maybe their Instant Messaging is down.
Where has he claimed he can?
Freudian slip - using the word scarcasm rather than sarcasm. But wonder if he will end up with any scars over this?
And by now I've read your response that this was sarcasm.

See!, I feel better already.
Semper Disgusted
Can't say I didn't have it coming!

I think he'd want to make his case publicly, and loudly.
Really? Maybe their Instant Messaging is back up!
But here, I think we need to be careful about assuming facts not in evidence:
The other problem is he doesn't know which of two adjacent section roads the incident happened on.
He SAYS he doesn't know.
I need more information. Either his story will hold up over time, or it won't.
I don't think we can dismiss the possibility that unbeknownst to him, his political allies might have done to him to further "the cause." There's not a damn bit of evidence to that effect, but I don't consider it impossible. Both sides are very irritated about the whole ID debate in KS.
BTW, I'm not on either side. I'm Catholic, so I don't have any issues trying to square evolution with a 6000-year-old earth, nor do I insist on trying to PROVE God created the earth in six literal or figurative days. It's a matter of faith, and I believe He created the earth over a period of time the ancients described in an allegorical six days, and that "evolution" is the way we have come to understand the process He used.
