You could interpret this statement in two ways. She's saying that the REGULAR Iraqi people welcomed him and that he was doing the work that the REGULAR people of Iraq wanted done; a view with which I have no quarrel. Another interpretation is that he supported the terrorists (whom she mistakenly determines are all Iraqi) in their fight against the Coalition, and that he would be supporting their actions against the REGULAR people of Iraq; which is detestable, in my opinion.
In the latter case, the man wasn't acting as a Christian 'Peace' activist, he was there to stir up the pot because he doesn't like the war-mongering Americans.

Daniel Pearl [sp?] made it. He was wanting to write a story that was critical of President Bush. Various other individuals have also, with disasterous results to themselves, have made that same mistake.

There's a school of though among the fifth column that if they can show our enemies how much we care about their poverty and their victimization (by us). If we actually enforced our treason laws in this country (and in theatres of operations) the frequency of occurrence of these types of incidents would be much reduced. Of course, essentially, the US has not credibly enforced treason laws since the ill fated McCarthy fiasco. Since then, no one has had the courage to undertake treason law enforcement actions in all but the most aggregious cases.

I did not see the interview, Jeff, but her comments to me seem vague and the meaning ambiguous. "Same work" means what - killing innocent people in the name of Allah? Seems truly bizarre from a self-avowed Christian peace activist.

ANYBODY who does not know that Iraq is a place to be avoided is a fool.
EVERYBODY who goes to Iraq voluntarily, without Military orders and good armament, is a fool. (conversely, EVERYBODY who goes into Harm's Way under orders is a Hero: may God keep your powder dry, your eye sharp and your wits keen!)
