I just watched an interview with the daughter of the American Peace Activist held hostage in Iraq.
While I can respect the strength of the man's convictions, I sharply and fundamentally disagree with them. He specifically stated that if taken hostage he did not want US or Iraqi forces to attempt his rescue with any use of force. Despite this, it is clear that he was there in direct opposition to US forces and was in fact abetting the very people our forces and the free Iraqis are fighting.
When asked by the host if there was anything that she would like to say to her father's captors, she stated the following (this is almost a word for word quote),
"I would like to say to them that my father was always very welcome by the Iraqis he was trying to help, that the work that he was there to do is the same work they would like to see done,"
Now I know she is distressed, but she was very straight forward in her comments and her opposition the US effort in Iraq. I take her at her word.
In essence, from this interview, it is clear that the so called, Christian, peace activist mission, is a mission to support the enemy.
Very true. Didn't hear about the Princeton University incident.

I did not see the interview, Jeff, but her comments to me seem vague and the meaning ambiguous. "Same work" means what - killing innocent people in the name of Allah? Seems truly bizarre from a self-avowed Christian peace activist.
I would like to know exactly what this guy was doing in the country.
She and her father are hopelessley naive. They think if they "help" these enemies that somehow as "human beings" they will like them. They are now finding out, that the terrorists are only interested in killing as many Americans as possible...including them.
Anyhow, having seen the interview as it transpired on Nightline, this was the clear message to me.
"In a chilling interview last month in the Jakarta cell where he remains after his conspiracy conviction in relation to the 2002 Bali bombings, the radical Muslim cleric also warned of a clash of civilisations that would not end until the West "accepts to be governed by Islam".
However, he argues there is little Westerners can do to avoid further conflict.
Bashir also says he recently sent a letter to US President George W. Bush via the US embassy in Jakarta.
"They have to stop fighting Islam, but that's impossible because it is sunnatullah (destiny, a law of nature), as Allah has said in the Koran," he says.
"They will constantly be enemies. But they'll lose. I say this not because I am able to predict the future but they will lose and Islam will win. Islam must win and Westerners will be destroyed. If they refuse to be under Islam, it will be chaos. Full stop. If they want to have peace, they have to accept to be governed by Islam."
This guy is a Muslim cleric, one of the programmers. Evil Muslim programmers like Bashir programmed this Peace Activist's kidnappers. What part of this doesn't he and his daughter understand?

Iraq is a dangerous place: anyone going there is in Harm's Way.
ANYBODY who does not know that Iraq is a place to be avoided is a fool.
EVERYBODY who goes to Iraq voluntarily, without Military orders and good armament, is a fool. (conversely, EVERYBODY who goes into Harm's Way under orders is a Hero: may God keep your powder dry, your eye sharp and your wits keen!)
ANYONE who gets "captured" as a civilian by the murderous psychopaths that occupy that cesspit that is called Iraq is also a fool.
EVERYONE who is in Iraq who is not currently engaged in military combat (and this includes all humanitarian "volunteers" and bleeding hearts) and who have not sought refugee status somewhere else, are fools, and will come to a Fool's End.
WAKE UP FOLKS! Iraq is not a benign environment. Many of the people who live there do not like you. They will kill you if they can.
Therefore flee. Flee until the Armed Forces can make it safe for you to do your do-gooder stuff. But being there while the bullets are flying and the Bad Guys are around to kidnap you and hold you hostage is a distraction.
If you see someone in an Orange Jumpsuit with their hands tied behind their back being held hostage by the Bad Guys, under threat of decapiation on live TV if the US doesn't surrender: well, that person is a well-intentioned fool. Soon to be a headless fool. Because the US will not surrender.
Sorry to sound mean, but that is how it really is. Do not go into Harm's Way unless you intend to be harmed. And then, do not ask the rest of the World to plead for your continued existence: you have behaved like a Fool, and you have come to a Fool's end. As sad as this may seem, that's life.
Would be fun to see these treasonous bastards true position stated - death by beheading or death by hanging.
Would be a shocking response from the State department - no - don't behead them - they have to have a trial first - then we can hang them.
