DETROIT -- A Mississippi-based conservative Christian group has canceled a boycott of Ford Motor Company.
The Tupelo-based American Family Association first announced the boycott against Ford and related brands on May 31.
AFA criticized Ford as being too gay-friendly, giving thousands of dollars to gay rights groups, offering benefits to same-sex couples and actively recruiting gay employees.
Gay rights activists now say they fear there may be a secret deal between the AFA and the company. Ford has denied any such deal.
After a spring meeting with a group of Ford dealers, the association said in June that it was suspending its boycott until at least the beginning of December. Last week, the American Family Association said it was canceling the protest action altogether.
On Monday, several gay rights groups expressed concern about reports that there had been a secret deal between Ford and the AFA to end Ford's advertising in gay media.
Ford spokesman Mike Moran said its Jaguar and Land Rover brands will no longer be advertised in gay publications, while there would be no change at Volvo.
He said the decision wasn't linked to the boycott.

Onwards, rump wranglers!

"Gay Groups Fear Alleged Ford Deal To End Gay Media Ads"
Shouldn't this read: "Homosexual Groups Fear Alleged Ford Deal to End Homosexual Media Ads"?
I so sick and tired of homosexuals being called "Gays." I'm also fed up with "same-sex" labels instead of what it really is: "HOMOSEXUAL." Stop the sugar coating.
If they're so damn proud of being homosexuals, then call them homosexuals.
There, I feel better now.
Does anyone else hear Dr. Laura laughing her ass off?
You should have pinged me.
I am looking to buy a motorcycle. Please share whether any motorcycle makers have a same kind of deal going.
Guess they feared finding an ad like this in a homosexual publication...."Range Rover - the SUV for Rump Rovers"

Ford embraces anti-gay bigotry
from America Blog
Ford exec who brokered secret deal with gay-haters caught leading the charge for Bush's extreme right Supreme Court nominees out of his Ford office
So, Ford embraces anti-gay bigotry. And the two Ford execs who negotiated the anti-gay secret deal with the gay-hating extremist groups, Ziad Ojakli and David Leitch, are actually former top officials in the Bush White House. And now we find out, below, that one of those same top Bush/Ford officials is also running secret meetings out of Ford's own offices in support of Bush's far-right Supreme Court nominees.
Remember the Ford Pinto?
Smack them in the rear, they burst into flames.
Or was that the Chevy truck?
"while there would be no change at Volvo."
Hey, if you cant sell Volvos to Homos, you might as well fold up shop.
I saw something like this on one of those sites a week or so ago.
So if you get a "special deal" for being gay, isn't that discrimination on account of sexual orientation?
Where's the ACLU? Oh, wait... They're probably all on a trip.
I'm proud to drive a Ford.
"Remember the Ford Pinto?
Smack them in the rear, they burst into flames."
Maybe Ford's gay advertising motto should have been "When it comes to getting rear ended, we're the experts".
Message to the pillow biters...STFU!!!
All the pickups until about 65 or so had the gas tank in the cab, behind the seat.
