LEANING ON TOM (Tom Golisano for NY Senator?)
NY Post (Page Six) ^ | 12/6/05

Posted on 12/06/2005 7:27:31 AM PST by areafiftyone

Republicans fearful the party will field a statewide slate that will go down in flames hope to persuade upstate gazillionaire Tom Golisano to abandon his quest for governor and run for the U.S. Senate instead. The move would clear the field for William Weld to take on presumative Democratic gubernatorial nominee Eliot Spitzer, and would end Jeanine Pirro's stumbling campaign to take on Sen. Hillary Clinton.

The NY GOP should change their name to the NY Jets.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter who runs... We will never have true representation in New York.

William Weld? Might as well get Mario back and hope Joe Bruno can elicit enough gridlock to keep him at bay. actually I prefer Mario over Pataki...read why: Pataki worse than Cuomo To Vaquero | 03/10/2005 9:48:38 AM EST sent Believe it or not, lovers of liberty, the constitution and more specifically the 2nd amendment were better off under Cuomo. For the first 2 of his 3 winning election, I received pro Pataki literature from the NRA including "Support Freedom, Elect Pataki" bumper stickers. Cuomo being a dyed in the wool anti gunner. Funny thing happened in his second term....Pataki turned on his constituency and proposed and received draconian gun bills that layered more repression upon us already repressed NY gun owners. Previously when Mr. Cuomo would propose like measures, he would receive backing of the Democrat assembly, but the upstate dominant Republican state senate would stone wall his attempts leaving them in limbo. Of course with their own boy in the governors mansion, the State Senate shooed these awful bills into law. Last election I voted for the third party clown Galisano as my protest vote. The democrat candidate would have at least elicited gridlock....far better than what we got with Pataki. Pataki for president???? not as standard barer of the Republican party...never happened never will....(and that goes for Rudy too)

Is Ed Cox, Nixon's son-in-law, still running?

Cox has been side swiped by the Repubs....but I think he still might be their Senate choice in the end unless a Carpetbagger (or Guliani) comes to Town. Cox knows Hillary from her Watergate days.

Golisano would make the best governor and I think he's got a good shot at it.

Pirro should go for AG....that I agree with hands down.

I think Hillary's plan all along has been to siphon out who her opposer will be. As it stands, the Repub candidate remains up in the air. I sure do like that. I think the "Architect" is writing this novel.

As I've said many times, I don't think Hillary will run (and waste the money) for the second term.

Clue: (One of the Commander in Chief shows notes Geena?? as having served only four years in the Senate)

It may be a small risk but any loss in any NY district would hurt Hillary and it may just be that some voters will go against her in NY in anticipation of 2008. The big blocks of course will still rule. A second Senate run is nothing more than a "confidence" vote. She won't take the risk!! We'll see another Dem Carpetbagger.

"I gotta say, if this isn't a situation for the Man of Steel I don't know what is. If Tom Golisano is the best Republican in the state, and Hillary Clinton is running against her evil twin, that's pretty strong evidence Lex Luthor has been putting in some late nights at the office recently and you, pal, have a responsibility to straighten things out."
