I wonder what they are thinking on the Old York Times...

Right now they're probably wondering why their stock is sinking like a rock when it's "everyone else that's in trouble".

They're closing a plant in America. They MUST be outsourcing, sending jobs overseas, "and under George Bush, they get a tax break for doing so" (as we were told ad nauseam during the last campaign).

Newspapers condemn other businesses for laying people off, yet they do it and it appears fine. Hmmm..... how much does their CEO make? Where does he live? How many cars does he have? He must be eeeevilllll.

Oh, wait. He owns a publishing company. He can do whatever he wants.

Like a bus load of lawyers plunging off a cliff,

Hey. It's a start.

You've got to feel sorry for the L.A. Times. How many of the people in Los Angeles either a) don't understand English b) can't read c) don't care for the politics of the Times or d) aren't native to California and don't particularly care about California?

Ironic, then, that a) and b) came about because of the liberal policies championed by the paper?

Syncronized nose dives. I tried to make one chart with both TRB and NYT versus the DJI for the past year but was not able to select for one chart in Yahoo.

I *ahem* work for NYT regional newspapers. So this is the definition of mixed emotions for me.

I wish to hell they could see what they're doing wrong. But I know they never will.

Hope they provide a pension. Good luck to you and yours.

I hope you have a job in the online section of the paper. Print media is done. Too old by the time it hits the street in the age of 24 hour news media. Plus, newspapers are ecologically unsound.

Being in the ONline section is no guarantee. Should see the way BusinessWeek is screwing its franchise, pumping out the Democratic talking points.

Their whole declining sales and withering circulation is really just a cover. By destroying the paper, think how many trees will be spared. It is a triumph of environmentalism too. And when their websites are taken off the internet because no one is reading them, think of the reduction of electrical consumption leading to less greenhouse gases in the environment. In fact this could be a trend that eventually engulfs the MSM.
