If Lake Powell looks anything like Lake Mead when I last visited, it's well on the way to draining itself.

It's actually up about 40' from last year at this time. If this year's another good snow year it should be close to normal next year.

That's a pretty terse post. What do you think on the subject?

There is quite a discussion going on regarding BP mag taking this position - as far as the Glen Canyon institute is concerned they are all for draining the lake they have made that very clear - me I think they are as nutty as the rest of the green goofies running around this world. I think BP mag knows which side it's bread is buttered on and there you have them.
Just another very good reason to pass the fairtax law HR 25 and dry up all these phony 501c3.

I really think it is way past time that we restore things the way they were, don't you. We should fill in all of the canals in the Eastern USA and also fill in the Saint Lawrence River Canal as well.
While we are at it we need to restore all the rivers by removing the dams which generate hydro-electric power, the salmon need to come back.
The human race is impure and it has violated the face of mother earth and we need to make ammends , or the next thing you know, we might have to give human sacrifices art various volcanoes around the world.
Man...these guys are as retro as you can get!

Why don't they knock down Hoover Dam while they are at it and send all that water down to Mexico?

Agree. Especially since the magazine appears to be based in Pennsylvania. Let's see these limousine environmentalists show us country bumpkins how it's done by returning Los Angeles to its natural desert environment. Let Las Vegas shut down its water fountains. Let original wildlife return to Central Park and let Chicago destroy its boatdocks so it can return to its natural habitat. Let New York cut down its skyscrapers to allow natural bird migrations. Let all the metropolitan areas show how environmentally conscious they can be, and then perhaps their citizens can dictate how people elsewhere in the country use their resources. Oh, and don't rebuild the NO levies while you're at at and maybe then we will consider draining Lake Powell a good idea.

And let the San Joaquin, Sacramento, Kings, American and Toualame Rivers run unfettered to the sea. Restore the Owens river while you are at it.

And let's top it all off by ripping up the Interstates and planting flowers where they were. Or just leave one lane and make them a bike path.

The eco-fascists need to be thrown in caves and given fur to wear. Once a week we can throw a grizzly in to see how they're doing.
