Monday December 05, 2005--Forty-eight percent (48%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. That's the President's highest rating since October 8.

The President earns Approval from 80% of Republicans, 20% of Democrats, and 41% of those not affiliated with either major party. Fifty percent (50%) of men approve of the President's job performance along with 46% of women.

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Americans Disapprove of the President's performance.

Today, 27% of Americans Strongly Approve of the President's performance while 37% Strongly Disapprove. Early in the year, those figures were close to even. A couple of months ago, the number who Strongly Disapproved was twice the number who Strongly Approved.

Confidence in the War on Terror and the economy have also improved significantly in recent months.

Finally-the numbers are no longer moving backwards, they are moving forward.

The President needs to stay on the offensive and keep talking to the American people about how things will work in Iraq.

Sorry, I do not believe that the true feelings of American citizens are so fickle and change as these polls indicate. It depends on who is asking, who is asked, and what they ask.

The only poll that counted was taken last November. It's outcome was voiced by a clear majority won by the largest voter turnout in our history. That is the only poll I will run with until the next Presidential "poll" in 2008 and iss also the one the President certainly should base his administration's policy on.

And I believe he is and applaud him for doing so.

For the first time ever I was called by a polling service last night.

It was Gallup and I was fully prepared to be asked slanted questions etc. Didn't happen. The interviewer went out of his way to remain neutral.

I was favorably impressed.

48%???? I live in Turkey and was watching bbcworld and they can not stop talking about how his approval ratings are in the low 30's. Last week one of the reporters said 20's. It is nice to see that the only english news agency I have access to on the tv is accurate.

(That is sarcasm....)

One of the refreshing things about President Bush is that he doesn't decide his actions absed on polls. He consults his inner moral compass, listens to his advisors, and makes a decision and sticks to it.

Everything you could ask for in a President. (except that he sometimes has ideas that are a little different than my own. I chalk these up to 1) the fact that he has more information and 2) the fact that he had to get elected in the first place)

Let's see if these poll numbers will somehow be worked into every headline and news story of the msm, as was the case with his 36% rating. I'm sure they, being unbiased as they claim, will give this equal play.

More good news Gorelick, Hamilton, Keane axis to spew swan song bilge this week. Bad? Sure. Three days news frenzy max! Not enough to do much damage (.5 % loss in the polls.)
Just enough to muddy the waters and throw the death watch ghouls in the press and congress into temporary disarray.

That's true, but Fred Barnes has a good item in today's Weekly Standard that the President after the election decided not to politicize the war. The last few weeks have changed his mind and now we are seeing the results.

BTW, Greg Palkot (sp?) did a great video essay of Iraq that was aired over the weekend. It was enlightening to see that there are places that Iraqis go on a daily basis that looks so unlike the quagmire that the leftists want us to see.

13 months ago GWB was reelected with 51% of the vote. If he is down only 3% from then, despite the barrage of unfair attacks and biased media coverage, he actually is doing pretty well.

Captnorm is right to make the comments that he did. Different pollsters have different reputations. Gallup is much different from Ipsos or Zogby.

The Pres did not politicize the war, the Dims did and he is simply defending himself and his policies.
