Cronyism approaching the style as it was practiced to a mandarin art in the Kremlin.

When will Bush get it?

The article ll powers do not include anointing your friends to rule over us. Every such choice he has made lately has been an embarassment.

Where is Cheney when we need him?

Wow...while it's way too early, I can't think of another person I'd rather have run who I think could actually win. I'd take her as NFL commissioner too. But I think the GOP needs Condi, unfortunately almost as much for her race and gender as for her superior qualifications.

I'd rather a non-Bush republican win. This time, though, a conservative.

Since this comes from a Rice-for-President site, we might take it with a grain of salt.

"Pres. Bush's penchant for handing out nicknames to those around him strikes again! And while GWB and GHWB lovingly refer to one another as '41' and '43' respectively, White House insiders say GWB is now referring to Condi as '44'

I wonder what Robert Redford would have thought of this had he known when he posed with Condi the other night.

It should be noted that in first years of our Republic, Secretary of State was the stepping stone to the White House. Thomas Jefferson was Washington's Secretary of State. He barely lost to Adams and spent his "Vice-Presidency" at home until beating Adams (barely) in 1800. Jefferson's Secretary of State was James Madison. His Secretary of State was James Monroe. His Secretary of State was John Qunicy Adams. This shows how the President's job was viewed as primarily dealing with foreign and military matters while domestic matters were left to Congress and the state governments.

All of that changed when Andrew Jackson demonstrated how the Presidency could be used to set an agenda, rally the people, and ram it through Congress. Thus, "King Andrew I" created the modern Presidency.

you are all handing Hillary the seat in '08 if you put Rice on the ballot. GWB calling her 44...isn't that quaint...

This was reported back in, say, February.

I love the nickname, though.

Not with her blaming Israel for all the ills of the Palestinians. It's such a bother when the Israelis let out more than a whimper while they die. She's morphing into something from the Bush Sr. team. Not what we need post 9/11!
