You keep talking about a war of attrition, nuclear strikes don't fall in that category at all.
Once again you are sadly mistaken thinking Israel will wait fot the US ok to do WHATEVER they deem necessary.
I seem to remember them selling weapons systems to China without any prior approval.

Do you really think the US is in a position to do anything about this? Can you imagine what the 'Rats would do and say if Bush authorized a strike on Iranian nuke production facilities? And what would they do if he bombs them but finds no nukes? I think the 'Rats have paralyzed us, and feel proud for having done so.

Israel sold outdated Block systems to China - And it was done without "official" approval.

Israel is not going to nuke the entire ME with over 200,000+ U.S. soldiers on the ground. Not gonna happen.

Israel is not going to nuke Iran either. That is foolish speculation.

Muslim poker.

Which appears to be similar to Russian Roulette.

Except that one chamber is empty instead of one chamber full.

"Russia doesn't want our power base to grow in the M.E. that is why they are selling missiles to Syria and Iran."
They have been doing this for many years. Plus the Russian companies have to sell stuff just like we do. What we have to do is remember in every engagment with russian built hardware and aviantics/ground air defenses, we and the Israeli's come out on top. The Ruskies are not as cute and clever as some would have them made out to be.

" couldn't the Israelis just destroy the place where they make the missiles that would deliver these weapons "

I believe that that might be a location in USSR, and that the missles are "off the shelf".

Actually, if we don't act soon, I don't think Isreal will wait for their present from Iran. They probably have a party of their own planned.

The Democrats will respond when we have 8 of our cities nuked by the Mad Mullahs of Iran, Israel is glowing in the Dark and we have 8 million dead. Then it will be to wave a White Flag to surrender.

Don't forget the statement they'd issue apologizing for our cultural insensitivity.

Quick fix on that last line:

While IAEA officials recognise that progress has been made in the EU negotiations, the talks so far have only bought time for Iran to acquire their nukes, which is what Iran wanted when it sat down to 'talk' in the first place.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure Iran plans to utilize the nukes for energy production purposes. After all, they'd benefit from having a nice America-sized glow as a nightlight.

But it's great to know that there will be peace in our time.

With John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean as strategic advisors on the War Against Terror!

Yep, we have a lot to be thankful for!

Isn't he the guy they modeled Sgt. Schultz of Hogan's Heroes on?

"I see nooooothing!"

Correct me if I'm wrong but within the past three weeks didn't El Baradei say Iran wasn't developing a nuke?

Israel has to have our support to survive in the ME today. That is a fact. Israel would have to have our direct support in any large scale military conflict today or it would stand a good chance of losing such a conflict as it cannot win a battle of attrition.

Israel would solve it's Palestinian problem with carpet bombing with napalm and artillery barrages in about a week.

There's not a military on the planet that will go toe to toe with the IDF and last more than a week. EXCEPT US.

And it should be noted that in 1973 such attitudes prevailed in the heirarchy of the IDF, which then
was outsmarted by Sadat and his generals.

Only a tactical error on Egypts part and incredible
bravery on the part of IDF tankers especially 7.
Armored Brigade holding the Syrians back in the Valley
of Tears kept Israel alive.
