This is pointless if you have no knowledge of the actual capabilities of Israel. The general consensus is that Israel is very nuclear able. My point was what YOU think we (U.S.) knows or doesn't know about Israel is immaterial! -
As for Israel having nuclear weapons. There is no debate here and hasn't been since the early 80's! - They have nuclear weapons (assuredly with no help from us...right? BS).
Israel not only has the 4th largest AF they also have the second best AF in the World as well.
That won't be enough in the type of conflict Iran, Syria (Hezzbollah, al Qeade and others) plan to bring upon Israel if a full scale war breaks out - Israel cannot sustain a long term fight (and they know it).
Their survival depends on the U.S. military in any protracted fight (period). Their survival up until now has been dependent to a large degree on the U.S. (that is jus reality).
Israel does not have the needed assets to take out all of Iran's threats in any single strike like they did in Iraq (81). The situation in Iran is much more complicated then that.

send some special ops in to Iran to cover up the vents on the underground plants?
I was in special ops, and I don't you could cover all the vents in a hit and run mission.

When Iran has a nuke the Isralis are going to feel their back is to the wall. I don't see any other option, but for them to make a first strike...and in the not too distant future. There is no doubt your comments above are a definite possibility. My point remains bringing us (U.S.) on board (and in all reality ...being involved) in any such strike is a must.
As for the nuclear attack by Israel. That will not happen, I do not see that happening with over 200,000 + U.S. soldiers so close -
Israel is not prepared to handle the response to that type of action without direct U.S. support - They cannot win a battle of attrition and that is how the radical extremists throughout the ME plan to wage war on Israel.

I think it really wasn't that we didn't NEED to test (that's Hubris) but we didn't have time and we didn't have materiel. That's a completely different matter.
I believe that the bombardier armed the daggone thing after they took off, having never done that before either. This was not a walk in the park. Not at all.

I have thought that undermining the regime by supporting the disaffected element with smuggled weapons and money was the way to go, but it may be too late now.

Why wait until they use nukes? The Iranians are already killing US troops in Iraq. For that matter, they work closely enough with Al Qaida that AQ should be considered an Iranian fifth column.

It was just last week they said they can't wait past March to deal with this problem.

I can't figure Russia out. Sure, they want money like anybody else, but to give nuclear capability to psychos right on your border or near your borders is insanity. Iran would not thnk twice about givin a nuke to Chechnya rebels who would rather blow up Moscow than just a school or threater.

With homicide bombers (at levels not seen before)Homocide Bombers? As a strategic military asset? YHTBK. Think lockdowns and curfews. There won't be ANY homocide bombers if Israel goes to war.

One has to think the Jordanian government isn't liking this one bit, either. Right. And somebody tried a chemical attack, with the WMD that don't exist, on Amman a couple of years ago. They have to be a bit jumpy.

Russia doesn't want our power base to grow in the M.E. that is why they are selling missiles to Syria and Iran.

Hezzbollah has means inside of Israel (of which Israel is aware of this reality) - But further escalation will lead directly into Iraq - That is where the heart of the GWOT is being fought -
An attack on Iran will increase the fight in Iraq 10 fold over night -
Iran won't simply take the fight to Israel only - It will lead to escalation in Iraq - Currently in Iraq less then 10% of those we are fighting come from outside Iraq - That won't be anywhere near the case if an attack on Iran happens (especially any time soon).

So, Iraqi Sunni holdouts. Iran is becoming a nuclear threat to your country. Will you now step up and join the new Iraqi Army? Your country needs you!
