Yo are right. The firs huge wave of Arab immigrants came in the 1880-1915 era. They wanted to assimilate--they had to assimilate. No welfare. Had to have a sponsor, etc.

Many from Mexico do not want to assimilate, and Arab radicals (probably Muslims) often do not want to assimilate.

Changes in the policies of the USA have made it easy for "immigrants" to come to America and not assimilate. (They teach some school classes in the languages of their native country). This is why America is losing its national sovereignty.

There are over 12 millions people from Lebanese descent(overwhelmingly Christians) who live outside Lebanon, over three times the number of all Lebanese living in Lebanon.

Really? My great grandparents 1. Didn't have a sponsor 2. Didn't come here to "become Americans" and 3. Came here because of economic opportunity. Why would they want to become white bread Calvinists anyway?

"Sponsorship" was a product of the laws past in the 1920s.

All I can say is that the second and third generation Mexicans I have encountered are as American as you and I. The first generation NEVER assimilates.

The problem is not with Arabs, it is with MUSLIMS. I lived in a nabe with a large Arab Muslim population, and they were not the type of folks we want to have in this country.
