I'm confused. On the face of it, your comment looks damaging to Bush and the U.S. I mean, we knew that the info was fake but we still used it to justify the war? What's the rest of the story?

As I understand it, and my apologies for the brief response (full day planned), the forgeries were not the documentation the President used to formulate his 16 words in the SOTU. Apparently these forgeries had been around a while - someone was just waiting for the opportune moment to use them. The article referenced in my above post is a must read. The French are behind many of the problems plaguing the U.S's war on terror.

Everybody seemingly knew this information was fake, and very early on. The issue is whether it was used somehow to justify the Iraq war.
