FBI agents and Homeland Security officials spent the weekend investigating the report of a possible missile fired at an American Airlines plane taking off from Los Angeles International Airport.
Sources tell ABC News the pilot of American Airlines Flight 621, en route to Chicago, radioed air traffic controllers after takeoff from LAX. He told them a missile had been fired at the aircraft and missed.
The plane was over water when the pilot said he saw a smoke trail pass by the cockpit.
FBI agents believe it was a flare or a bottle rocket, but say they may never know if that's what it actually was.
Bottle rocket???
Musta been the "center fuel tank" hiccuping, right?
Don't think the bottle rocket has the range and the flair doesn't have the range or the speed. Something happened.
Oh sure, haven't you ever heard of bottle rockets that can intercept a 200+ MPH airliner hundreds of feet up in the air?
It was Santa testing his new hybrid sleigh.
You REALLY have to go to the underground fireworks bunkers to get those.
Something sure did.....or the pilot was drunk.

It must have been one helluva of a bottle rocket...all the ones I've ever had as a kid went about 100 feet or so in the air. Hmmmm....
"Kinda stretchin the bounds of credibility there Hoss."
Why? The FBI wouldn't be making something like that up to cover up a terrorist attack, would they?
Next thing you know they'll hire 'The Agency' to do an up-to-date computer simulation showing exactly how that bottle rocket did that....
I heard it was 2,000+ feet high.
If this gets posted a few more times, people will start thinking it's a barrage.
Interesting... a search on missile did not find that. Oh well, it's not the first time I've been had by the search engine... nor do I expect it to be the last.
Bottle Rocket = WMD
bump
If I was the pilot, I would probable get drunk.
