So Al Qaeda will a big show of threatening to execute them and then release them after a suitable interval to heighten the anti-U.S propaganda. They're hoping the libs redouble the pressure on the U.S and British governments and if that doesn't get them what they want they still get political mileage out of it.

I don't think the military are going to throw themselves into some ambush or anything.
I think the terrorists are in some shack or building outside of town and that with satellite, maybe we will track something that could lead the military to investigate.

Never trust an anti-American lefty, ever. The more American soldiers they can get killed, the better chance they think they'll have to win an election. If over 3,000 American deaths on 9/11 meant nothing to them, then why would they even worry about 3,000 more American deaths if it brings them personal power?
