Matthias Dapfner, Chief Executive of the huge German publisher Axel Springer AG, has written a blistering attack in DIE WELT, Germany's largest daily paper, against the timid reaction of Europe in the face of the Islamic threat. This is a must read by all Americans. History will certify its correctness. EUROPE - THY NAME IS COWARDICE (Commentary by Mathias Dapfner CEO, Axel Springer, AG) A few days ago Henry Broder wrote in Welt am Sonntag, "Europe - your family name is appeasement." It's a phrase you can't get out of... |

That phrase resonates because it is so terribly true. Appeasement cost millions of Jews and non-Jews their lives as Britain and France negotiated and hesitated too long before they realised Adolf Hitler needed to be fought and defeated, because he could not be bound by toothless agreements. Later, appeasement legitimised and stabilised communism in the Soviet Union, in East Germany and then throughout the rest of eastern Europe, where for decades inhuman, repressive... |

Appeasement legitimized and stabilized Communism in the Soviet Union, then East Germany, then all the rest of Eastern Europe where for decades, inhuman, suppressive, murderous governments were glorified as the ideologically correct alternative to all other possibilities. Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe to ignore nearly 500,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace-movement, has... |

Excellent article. I received it via e-mail from a friend a couple days back. Everyone should read it, and then ping any European friends to it!
Changing the word "Europe" to "Democrats" works, too.
Did you search before posting this for the 37th time?
Yes, but appeasement even infiltrates this article: the author buys the lies of the Muslim-appeasing faction in NATO that the Yugoslav war against the al Qaeda-backed Bosniacs and Albanians was a genocide.
First I saw it. Thanks.
I love it when one of the few and proud true students of history in Europe tells it like it is. The large faction of appeasing, goo goo eyed, utopian, modenity addicts within Europe have come to expect such things from us "wild cowboy Americans" and deride us with that epithet, but when a fellow Euro says it, they cannot so readily go for the ad hominem attack.
