That's beautiful! I love the snow globe with the nativity. And that's a beautiful picture of President and Mrs. Bush.

The other day I was at Wal-Mart and the Salvation Army was out front.

Yes, and Wal-mart gave the SA an extra 10 days in front of their store to make up for Target kicking them out.

Part of the reason I have no problem with Happy Holidays during the time between Thanksgiving and New Years is the fact, there are many holidays during that period. As Chrismtas draws close, I say Merry Christmas, or have a nice Christmas. But in the twixt times, I will say something to the extent of have a good Holiday Season, or I hope your holidays are enjoyable and so forth. In some cases, too much has been made out of "Merry Christmas". If Christains are really serious about the true meaning of the holiday, they would stop the gift giving craze and instead focus on the holiday as one more prophecy that was fulfilled. But instead, Christians want both sides of the aisle......Christmas recognized and gorging on the commercial holiday.

I agree with the 2nd part of your post, but I'm wondering, what are the other "holy days" that fall between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Technically, with the correct definition of "holiday", Thanksgiving is not a holiday. I don't think that Hanukkah is considered a "Holy Day" within Judaism, and Kwanzaa is a cultural, not religious celebration. It appears that Christianity's Christmas is the only "holy day" at this time of year. And even if the above is incorrect, certainly retailers would not have much of a "holiday" market were it not for purchases by those that celebrate Christmas.

In addition to Target, Dayton/Hudson owns the Mervin's chain which also bans Salvation Army kettles.

TJMaxx is another store that doesn't celebrate Christmas but wants your money.

They have Happy Hanukkah signs and Happy Holiday signs. They don't mention the word Christmas in their stores or in their advertising.

I emailed them a few days ago about this and so far have received no response.

Now is the time for Christians to reclaim Christmas. Jesus was not born in December but in April. We need to celebrate His birth then and let the pagans have December 25. In the same vein, we need to change the name of Easter to Resurrection Sunday and observe it on the day history tells us.

...that although it is too late to change this season's advertising materials, next year "things will be different."

BS! Hope they enjoy this years boycott, next years will be bigger.

Our Sam's Club has had a SA bell ringer for a couple of weeks. I will say that the cards were really bad and I had to go to CVS to find some that said "Merry Christmas". I've been hitting that drugstore for the past several years now to buy Christmas cards.

I'm one of the demo ladies at our Sam's and plan on wearing my "Jesus Is the Heart of the Season" pin (along with other patriotic and angel pins)on my apron when I go in on Saturday.

Maybe then it's also the perversion of the word holiday. We call it the 4th of July holiday and the same holds true with some other days that are recognized. Companies in employee handbooks say we observe X number of holidays.

This is a much about an organized effort of people being "professionally offended" as it is returning to "Jesus is the reason for the season". Frankly the AFA is sounding almost like Jesse Jackson's groups. If you don't do what we want, we'll either implement a boycott or extort something from you.
