"Safe storage of firearms? -- My mother lives in a tent!"
The Liberals don't care. This was nothing but a feel-good exercise for urban Canadians in the first place, with a typical leftist disregard for logic or facts. I can't blame the people who think it's only purpose is to facillitate a future round-up of all legal guns, since that's the only real use for it that I can see. Heck, even its proponents admit that it does nothing to stop crime, which of course doesn't stop them from supporting it.
If I remember correctly, Clinton made a deal with Chretien that Canada would require American hunters to register their firearm(s) when they came to Canada. Whether this was ever instituted I don't know.
We haven't registered ANYTHING and don't intend to either. All our guns are lost.
Stephen Harper has already said he will abolish the gun registry. They can't even pay people to register their firearms. It's been ANOTHER collosal waste of money.
That is PRECISELY the reason for it and it is PRECISELY the reason most won't obey it.
Plenty!! I know a few people who registered ONE gun but in reality have others.
I found this thread about my hometown.

That's a shame - mine, too, some years ago. ;^)
I think the Liberals have finally screwed the pooch, this time - they're toast.
Yes, you must declare and positively identify (serial # etc) your firearms at the customs office on the border.
You'd better hope and pray that your gun hasn't been delared "unsuitable for import", or it will be confiscated whether or not you fully enter Canada or not (inspection stations are conveniently located on Cdn soil).
In addition, all your information about your firearms you bring into Canada is immediately sent to the FBI, BATFE, and anyone else who happens to be interested that day, like the RCMP and most local cops.
Orwell was an optimist, and Huxley didn't see the whole picture
brother, they had better be burnt toast!!
