Donkey Fight! Reactions to President Bush's Iraq speech yesterday suggest that he has succeeded in dividing the Democratic opposition. "The president's speech in Annapolis today was a step in the right direction," said Sen. Ken Salazar of Colorado. But his Wisconsin colleague Russ Feingold said, "It's a step back." House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi endorsed Rep. John Murtha's call for an immediate pullout (though both Pelosi and Murtha voted against that proposition when Republicans called their bluff last month. But Pelosi's deputy, Steny Hoyer, said if his boss had her way it "could lead to disaster, spawning a civil war, fostering a haven for terrorists and damaging our nation's security and credibility."
Meanwhile, Angry Left blogger Markos Moulitsas is on the warpath against John Kerry*:
There's a little kerfuffle inside the Democratic Senate caucus over John Kerry's insistance [sic] in being part of the official party response to Bush's hilarious "plan" in Iraq. Reid originally had designated Sen. Jack Reed to provide the official response. Reed did the "prebuttal" yesterday and had a press conference set up for today.
However, John Kerry stomped over Reed by deciding he was going to hold a press conference this morning as well in a naked bid to steal the limelight. Eventually, Reid was forced to combine the two press conferences to try and maintain a unified Senate Democrat response, but Kerry's antics have generated some ill will.
Much ado about nothing? Perhaps. But several DC Democrats I've spoken to today were not happy with Kerry's antics. And given 1) Kerry's continued inability to clearly articulate a coherent position on the war . . ., and 2) the fact that Kerry voted for it (while Reed did not), it's not hard to see why.

Sounds like more of an Ass Fight.
And so many conservatives were worried about the poll numbers and constant hounding of the dems/media.
They can't keep themselves together.
Democrats are children who shouldn't be allowed in the room when grown-ups are trying to work on real problems.
They already hate Kerry. He did the most unforgivable thing possible. He lost to BFEE/Bushco or whatever name they have for him.
"Bush's hilarious "plan""
No reasons why it's hilarious or why plan in quotation marks. This blogger just attacks and probably can't come up with one good point as to what he/she wrote.
Its all they have been doing for nearly a year!
I saw Pelosi this morning on Fox and she was pushing the withdrawal to a neighboring country and using a rapid reaction force for Iraq as an alternate plan. The Fox news readers didn't ask any tough questions, in fact I can't remember them asking any questions.
The Democrats need to be asked where this reaction force would be based and which neighboring country has agreed to host such a force. I guarantee the Democrats haven't bothered to ask that question because this isn't about a real alternative to Bush's plan. It's only about scoring political points . Someone needs to expose their hypocrisy on this.
Frankly, I think some Dems are throwing up trial balloons for Hillary on the war in Iraq. Notice Hil didn't utter a peep about Murtha's call for a pullout until AFTER the vote was taken and the firestorm of criticism erupted.
Where Steny... there or HERE?!
The Kossacks also hate Kerry for what they think was a sleazy campaign to smear Howard Dean and deny him the Democrat nomination. But they sure didn't seem to mind Kerry's sleazy campaign when it tried to hawk fake National Guard memos to CBS or put togther the Joe Wilson lying tour.
Let's all send $2 to Kerry's Presidential Fund. If he thinks he actually has a chance, he'll keep doing these moronic stunts and trip up the rest of the party.
The Dems bring to mind the late Abba Eban's famous pronouncement about the Palestinians: They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
Let me see if I have the Democrats plan right.
They plan to take the troops out of Iraq and station them somewhere in the Mid-East that is close to Iraq, so when the Civil War and the killing starts they can send them back to Iraq???
Nice picture, I like it.
I could see Hunter calling another pull out vote soon if these Dems keep talking this way. Pelosi needs to be careful what she wishes for. Hunter said if the games didn't stop in the rhetoric he would call another 403-3 type vote. Seems maybe that is needed.
All the hype in the media about this issue CONGRESS has the power to end our participation in this war at ANY TIME. If they truly believe that is the right thing to do as they claim, they would do so.
