SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) - - (12/01/05)-- FBI and IRS agents searched the offices of prominent personal injury lawyer Geoffrey Fieger last night (Wednesday).

The search began about 7 p.m. and finished about four hours later as agents loaded boxes from the Southfield offices into a car and a truck.

The FBI says the investigation began before the office of Republican state Attorney General Mike Cox began an investigation into Fieger.

That investigation is looking into whether Fieger illegally funded a $457,000 ad campaign against state Supreme Court Justice Stephen Markman in last year's election.

I would love to hear something from Fieger on this. He's such a little hothead.

A bit of trivia for you: his brother is Doug Fieger of the rock group The Knack ("My Sharona")

I would wait until all the "evidence" is gathered before making a judgement. These "FBI & IRS" raids are often just political payback. We certainly had a lot of that with the Clinton Administration.

Of course, in other countries the winner sometime kills those who opposed him in the election. At least we are a bit more civilized...

I always feel like needing to take a shower after I see this sleazebag on TV - there is something just not right about him.

If you ever heard his rants on behalf of Kevorkian you would know why he makes people's skin crawl.

He's creepy despite his frequent appearances on Greta's show.

Isn't it interesting that AP identifies the attorney general as "Republican."

Wonder if the AP identifies all attorneys general by their party affiliation. I bet not.

Next I want to read a story about the FBI raiding Gov. Granola's office and carting away boxes of evidence.

Now I have two reasons to dislike Geoffrey Feiger.

Even if they have no evidence to support this, they should be permitted to search his office to see if they can find evidence, just as the Florida prosecutors are being permitted to subpoena Rush Limbaugh's doctors, in order to see if Rush may have committed a crime.

Michigan's Supreme Court has won rave reviews from the media, as well. I can't believe that Feiger would want to upset the apple cart.

Figer's personality and politics are irrelevant. Before everyone gets on a high horse, remember that any infringement on free speech is an abomination and violative of the Constitution, the majority opinion of those fools notwithstanding. Put another and older way, "There but for the grace of God, go I."

"Michigan's Supreme Court has won rave reviews from the media, as well. I can't believe that Feiger would want to upset the apple cart."

Obviously, one Supreme Court Justice ruled against Fieger and he used his cash and influence to wage war.

I'm hoping you just overlooked mentioning that this was sarcasm, and not serious, right?

This guy always seems slimey to me...

He's a CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYER, How else could he seem? But, seriesly [sic], I am really suspect of FBI or any gov agency having the power to just come in and take everything in your possession and comb thru it to see IF you committed a crime. In my Not-So-Humble-Opinion, this is blatantly UN-Constitutional and should be brought to SCOTUS for dismissal.........

Well, at least he's not chairman of the Michigan Film Advisory Commission any longer (resigned), but just a member.
