Joe Wilsons "proof" is that he drank tea with some Niger officials for a few days and came back saying that "it probably didn't happen".
The officials probably told ole Joe that any sale of yellowcake to Iraq would violate UN sanctions.
That was good enough for ole Joe.
Could he have talked to the French, the French mining companies or anyone else involved in the actual production of yellowcake?
Our "allies", the French, are the only ones who know whether Saddam tried to acquire yellowcake from Niger.
And who said it was Niger?
The Brits said "Africa".

If you believe Chiocci's article, Niger was a hotbed of nuclear activity: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1531449/posts.

I guess none of this was happening in the hotel where Joe set himself up.

I'm reminded of a Marx brothers movie where Chico and Harpo are told to tail a man. Chico reports back: "We went to the ball game - he didn't show up."
