Perfectly acceptable.
Why is it any of the cop's business, any more than it is that of the shopkeeper, bartender, priest, or pal I encounter while carrying?
"I don't blame LEOs for wanting to know as soon as possible that you have a firearm with you."
However, this is meaningless, because every cop should approach every traffic stop as though the occupants of the car are armed.
The people they need to worry about aren't going to be listed on any database.
Every law abiding American citizen should have the legal right to carry a defense handgun without any government encumbrance.
I'm with you, they know you've had training and a backround check; lets them relax....
"I don't blame LEOs for wanting to know as soon as possible that you have a firearm with you."
Please think about what you have said! The cops don't have to worry about the people with the carry permit. And even if someone with a carry permit means to harm the cop, the carry permit will NOT be the first thing the cop sees!
This is another case of the statists training us in compliance. It serves no useful purpose whatsoever except to further the compliance training of law abiding citizens. It does not make cops safer; just makes them feel more powerful. It is a way of portraying people who carry legally as being just as dangerous as people who don't comply with the law. And the sheeple will buy into it.
Stupid law, bad law, destructive law.
I was a cop working in a high crime area of Chicago. For my safety, I ALWAYS assumed that ANY citizen with whom I had contact could be armed. It worked quite well for me for 28 years and I took lotsa guns off of bad guys. (convicted felons, not law abiding citizens)
