If the conservatives didn't turn out, the politicians will cater to the people who actually vote. They didn't turn out to "teach the governor a lesson" as some here on this forum pronounced why they wouldn't turn out to support such things as parental notification for kids under 12 to have an abortion. Now it is the California conservatives' turn to "learn a lesson." You made your bed, now lie in it.

As they say, if you elect a RINO, you'd better expect a heap of crap.

..one could say we get the government in CA we deserve, but to Arnold's credit, he did try to reform things. CA doesn't want change--it just wants more!

***COMING TO CALIFORNIA IN 2006***

New and Improved Gray Davis - Now Acceptable to Arnoldbots!
Mr. Gray Davis (R)

Davis bio:

Joseph Graham Davis Jr. (born December 26, 1942), best known as Gray Davis, is a American politician who served as the 37th Governor of California from 1999 to 2003. He was re-elected to a second term in 2002, but on October 7, 2003, he became the second governor to be recalled in American history. He is currently a member of the Democrat Republican Party.

Born in New York, New York, Davis moved to California with his family as a child in 1954. He graduated from a North Hollywood military academy, the Harvard School for Boys (now part of Harvard-Westlake School). He earned a BA in history at Stanford University, where he was admitted to the Zeta Psi fraternity, graduating in 1964. He then returned to New York to attend Columbia Law School. After completing the program in 1967 he entered active duty in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War until 1969.

Davis returned to California and entered politics, serving as Executive Secretary and Chief of Staff to Governor Edmund G. "Jerry" Brown Jr. from 1974 to 1981. He met his future wife, the former Sharon Ryer, while on an airplane tending to official business in 1978. Ryer, a flight attendant for Pacific Southwest Airlines, was miffed when Davis held up the departure of the flight from Sacramento to Los Angeles. Davis apologized and asked her out, and they later married in 1983, with California Supreme Court justice Rose Bird officiating. He was elected to the office of Assemblyman from the 43rd district (Los Angeles County) from 1983 to 1987, then as State Controller until 1995. He was Lieutenant Governor until 1999, after winning the 1998 election for Governor with 57.97% of the vote, defeating Republican Dan Lungren who had 38.4%. Davis was re-elected in November 2002 following a long and bitter campaign against Republican candidate Bill Simon, marked by accusations of ethical lapses on both sides and widespread voter apathy. He gained re-election with 47.4% of the vote to Simon's 42.4%

After leaving public office, Davis appeared on several shows, such as The Tonight Show and The Late Show with David Letterman, as well as a cameo as himself on CBS sitcom Yes, Dear. In December 2004 he announced that he was joining the law firm of Loeb & Loeb. Davis has also been in the media since being recalled. Aside from the aforementioned television cameos, he has done many news media interviews about his legacy. After discovering the Arnoldbots don't care how liberal or incompentant someone is as long as they have an "R" next to their name, he switched to the Republican Party in 2006, and is now mounting a comeback bid for Governor

ELECT DAVIS SLOGANS FOR ARNOLDBOTS:

"Vote for Davis or you'll get Angelides!"
"He's a FISCAL conservative and social moderate"
"Elect Davis or the DEMOCRATS will win!"
"Davis will BRING THE BUISNESSES BACK and CUT, CUT, CUT!"
"I don't CARE if his wife is still a scrwely liberal Democrat"
"Davis is fan of "Free to Choice" (he supports unlimited abortion, after all)
"If a Democrat were Governor right now, we'd have socialized health care and tax hikes already. Thank GOODNESS that NEVER happened under Davis!"
"You may not like him, but you can't deny he's ELECTABLE!"
"He'll DELIVER California to George Allen in '08!"
"A Vote for McClintock is a Vote for Westly!"
"Democrats HATE Davis! If the Dems don't like him, he must be doing SOMETHING right!"
"ANYONE but Hillary!"
"Conservatives CAN'T win!!!"

The following are GOP candidates for Governor. All are unelectable right-wing scumbags except for Davis. A vote for ANY of them is a vote to elect Angelides. The ONLY acceptable choice for GOP primary is noted in BOLD:

Vote for one:
Tom McClintock (R)
Tony Strickland (R)
Dan Lungren (R)
Gray Davis (R) - Pre-endorsed by California GOP
Chris Cox (R)
Darrell Issa (R)
Howard Kaloogian (R)
Bill Simon(R)

The following are general election candidates for Governor. A vote for ANY of them is a vote to elect Angelides. The ONLY acceptable choice for Governor is noted in BOLD:

Vote for one:
Phil Angelides (D)
Gray Davis (R)
Peter Camejo (GR)
Art Olivier (LP)
Jim Gilchrist (AIP)
Janice Jordan (PFP)
George Fellows (IND)

Paid for by the California Republican Party

As Rush was talking about this, yesterday, I had the thought that perhaps Arnold has given up on the Republican party and has decided to join the Democrats. It brought to mind the explanation on the Democratic Socialist web page that describes the fact that the Socialists had given up trying to operate as a third party and decided to work within one of the two major parties, the Democrats. In the case of California, the Republican party has been nearly neutralized through gerrymandering, so maybe Arnold has decided to make his changes from within the Democrat Party. He never was much of a conservative, anyway.
