Kennedy Appointment is Outrageous
California Republican Assembly ^ | 11-30-2005 | Mike Spence, President of the California Republican Assembly

Posted on 11/30/2005 6:12:08 PM PST by Amerigomag

The appointment of Susan Kennedy as Chief of Staff to the Governor is a betrayal of the hard working activists that supported the Governor during the recent special election. Kennedy has a track record as an active partisan Democrat that has worked contrary to Republican candidates and beliefs.

Those of us who supported the recall of Gray Davis now find one of his top operatives, Susan Kennedy as the leader of Schwarzenegger staff. Not only did she work for Davis, but Kennedy is plagued by her involvement in the Oracle scandal.

This is a dangerous false start for the Governor, not a fresh start.

The California Republican Assembly Board of Directors will be voting on a resolution calling for the California Republican Party's withdrawal of their pre-primary endorsement of the Governor.

It's a liberal state, regardless of the attempt to spin it.

Is THAT why over 60% of the population voted for Republicans in the recall?

Who knew?

If you knew a damned thing about how the CRP ran the last several senatorial elections, you'd know why Boxer is still in office. Feinswine has played it fairly intelligently and is a much more formidable candidate.

You are correct in one concept - it is the fools in the California Republican Party that have allowed themselves to be ignored.

Obviously, for Arnold to have depended on them to actually push through the needed changes was a mistake on his part.

Unlike certain perpetual losers, Arnold understands that you don't keep playing the same bad hands - sometimes you have to reshuffle the deck in order to win.

"Especially sonce all the rest of his FR fans, the ones who where SO certain they were right,...."

Were right, and ARE right - any other choice would have given us complete Liberal Democrat control. The lack of support by the far right-wing is what has caused this loss again.

Absolutely - as long as we pay no attention to the lesbian democratic activist chief of staff behind the curtain. LOL

You're right waspman, Tom Sillyvan has always been one of those globalist, slip-it-to-them-quietly traitors. And Arnold has out arnolded himself this time.

Is it time for bullets yet???

... BTW you got this exactly backwards.

At least the typical AS supporter's ability to interpret the political landscape remains as keen as ever.

"I think Arnold learned the wrong lesson from the special election defeat."

He learned that California conservatives don't support him, even when he proposes what they allegedly want. So he's building a political base that doesn't include conservatives, who might support him in the conservatives' stead.

LOL - I suppose you think that the overwhelming support by the far right wing is what caused the loss ?

... and trusting the interpretation of the political landscape by perennial losers gets you just where ?

In a parallel universe, President Bush has replaced Andy Card, Karen Hughes, or Karl Rove with James Carville. As if Norman Mineta wasn't bad enough. {smirk}

A few more quotes for the collection (see also #73 and #74, above).

From Knight Ridder:

"She's a very important key to being able to sit down with the Democrats," said Leon Panetta, the former chief of staff to President Bill Clinton, who consulted with Schwarzenegger's administration on how to restructure the governor's office.

"That can really make the difference for this governor as he goes into this next year."

(snip)

"By placing a leading homosexual, pro-abortion Democrat activist in charge of his entire administration, Arnold has taken a disastrous turn to the left," Randy Thomasson, president of the Campaign for Children and Families, which opposes gay marriage, said in a statement.

"Conservative voters who supported him are waking up from their dream and stepping into reality -- and the reality stinks."

And from the Sac Bee
Although a number of conservative Republicans were aghast at the appointment, Schwarzenegger's move won quick approval from one past foe.

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," [Gray] Davis said of the Kennedy appointment. "It's a big plus for Arnold. It shows he understood the message from the November election."

Perhaps he has. See the first quote in my post above as to who is advising Arnold on his restructuring.

True - the reality is that their dream was crushed by those conservative voters who DIDN'T support props that would have advanced their ideals because they did not come from a source they deemed "acceptable".

Arno who could not and would not campaign for President Bush during the last election in California. Oh yea, he did do some campaigns stops in Ohio..........Arno who could not and would not campaign for the Republican candidate for the Senate in the last election.......California again stuck with Boxer. Oh yea, the only thing Arno did campaign for during the election was for the passage of the stem cell research costing the California taxpayers, billions.

It is more like Arno has always ignored California Conservatives but what would you expect from a RINO that has been weaned from the breasts of the Kennedy Clan.

With everything else in the record Arnold has compiled, and now this, there won't be a conservative left who will support him, and there shouldn't be a single Republican left who will support him.

To say Arnold has been a total disaster is to grossly understate the magnitude of this particular train wreck.

But, don't forget, it's a good thing we didn't vote for that "unelectable" Tom McClintock...

Arnold may not be perfect and makes mistakes, but he is still orders of magnitude better than any Dem we would end up with instead.

FairOpinion, I think you know that I tend to agree with you much of the time about California. Unfortunately, this is one time when I disagree -- politely. Why? Because I firmly believe it was a huge mistake to dump Gray Davis in the first place. All that did was take the heat off the Democrats.

Arnold is not orders of magnitude better than any Dem when he surrounds himself with Leftist Dems, which he has been doing ever since he got elected. He's been a disaster for the Republican Party in this state. At a time when the party desperately needed rebuilding, he's done next to nothing to help. If anything, he's made matters worse by (1) acting almost as though he's ashamed to be a Republican, and (2) being just enough of one to have Republicans blamed for his failures.

I think we need to let the Dems totally take over again. As big employers like Nissan and the movie industry leave the state, citing the cost of doing business as the reason, the electorate here will eventually come to a fish or cut bait point. They will have to make a choice between having the state sink into total chaos or dumping the Marxists up in Sacramento.

Someone like Arnold only blurs the stark choice that the electorate in this state must make sooner than they realize.
