twelve years in charge of the House, and three years in control of all three elected bodies, have created weariness and dissatisfaction with the GOP. All this made me think the 2006 elections could result in a Speaker Pelosi.
Weariness? I think we just elected more Reps to Congress, we just regained control of the Senate and we just re-elected GWB. That's weariness? Kristol is such a loser.

According to andrea Mitchell on Hairball today...the House REpublicans are running as fast as they can AWAY from President Bush and his speech today...because they see him losing the war...and the people...

Until now, it seemed to me more likely than not that Democrats would win back the House in 2006

That's because you're an idiot, Bill. Life is always gloomy for you.

The worst case scenario was losing a couple of seats in the House and perhaps one in the Senate. I'd say it's far more likely that we'll gain.

Saddam will have danced at the end of a rope, Iraq will continue to improve, the economy may stop its breakneck acceleration long enough for Americans to realize that it's quite good, and the Democrats will continue to offer nothing.

And Lieberman would make a better Sec. of Defense than Rummy. This is the LAST time I read anything by Billie boy.

Bush will continue to fight the war, and stay the course. Chicken Republican congressmen/women will be jumping back on the ship soon. Especially now that Joe Lieberman is to their RIGHT on Iraq, Sheesh.

Pelosi will help widen the MoveOn--Hillary split.

It's all good.

Now if the cruddy Bush PR dept would get off it's butt and help George brag on the economy, and let Bush continue to defend the Iraq front, things will get better for him in the polls too.

...he could make Joe Lieberman Secretary of Defense.

Kristol either needs a new gag writer or he needs to have his meds adjusted.

Kristol is about two weeks late. I said this the night of the debate on the "Murtha" bill. See "A Landscape-Altering Vote"

Typical Kristol.

If he's ever right about anything, it's an accident.

If, a year from now, Iraq is judged to have been a mistake and to be a disaster, the Democrats will benefit--for that is the position of their leadership.

That is certainly what the Democrats are hoping for, disaster and death in Iraq. Now, with Pelosi going on record, they'll be doing all that they can to ensure disaster there. They will endanger our good soldiers and do what they can to see that we are defeated there. They, therefore, will be on the side of Al-Qaeda and the other terrorists there and elsewhere. They will prove themselves to be the traitor party.

Good grief! Kristol is so entrenched in the beltway mentality that he's actually believing the spin that goes on there. He really needs to take a vacation.
Pelosi? Speaker of the House? ROFLMAO!

Democrats have to stop believing their own polls before they can start winning elections.

When a pollster asks: Do you want the troops to come home now?

The answer is usually going to be, "Yes."

Pollsters should be asking: Do you think the troops should come home now?

The majority answer is going to be, "No."

The Democrats think that playing on peoples' "wants" is going to win them elections. They completely discount the fact that most people have brains enough to figure out that what they want isn't always the best thing for the country. The only exception to the rule are the liberals who only function based on what they want.

Kristol is probably right about this. A party of complete defeat and surrender does not deserve leadership. They must have polling that backs this move, though I still don't get it.

However, I fear the WH will not utilize this talking point to the degree that the should, and the press will undoubtably spin anything as a "defensive, combative WH; blah, blah blah..."

The key is "don't lose their nerve"! What nerve?I am angry at both houses for their lack of nerve. Bunch of weenies! I can't believe so many have given so much to take back this country and these jerks have weenied out. Nuclear option? Crap. Stick it to them. why win if you don't get the trophy?
