I have been running my Mercedes diesel on 50-70% used french fry oil for three months. I am overall satisfied, but some sluggishness has recently appeared, and I don't yet know if it is the fuel, the filter or the fuel pump. I don't think it is a breakdown.

Have you changed the fuel filters (plural)?
They are likely plugged. Biodiesel concentrations above 20% will tend to flush out all the gunk into your filters.
In my case, it also caused the fuel tank screen to become clogged with algae. Treat with a bio-cide and Diesel 911.
