A longtime gay rights activist, Kennedy married her partner, Vicki Marti, in a 1999 ceremony in Hawaii attended by many California political insiders.

Seems to me that all is not well in the 'land of fruits and nuts'???????

OK, then you can write a letter to Arnold:

Dear Arnold,

You are a RINO and I don't like you, and wouldn't vote to support you in any way.

I am writing to encourage you not to grant Tookie clemency, nor to appoint the radical gay activist to your staff.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

"You are a RINO and I don't like you, and wouldn't vote to support you in any way."

Who said I would never vote for or support him in any way? If instead I wrote "I think you're the greatest and would vote for you no matter what", he'd still be just as likely to ignore it, because reprieving Tookie or not reprieving him would have no effect on whether or not I'd vote for him. Politicians pay attention to votes they perceive as conditional, not unconditional (in either direction).

Keep this just between us, now Jim. I'm finding all this just entirely too much delerious fun and pure entertainment of the highest order!

Things were really starting to slow down here on the ol FR ranch over the past couple of years until Harriet and the Special CA election happened! Then BANG!!! FReepers suddenly came to life and like my old Pennsylvannia Dutch grandma used to say... "They suddenly got all het up!"

One of the biggest differences I've noticed between Dems and Repubs is that, Repubs think an election actually resolves issues and go right back to sleep as soon as the polls close. Dems never sleep.

I thought you might have noticed that too, having finally changed alliances not too long ago.

Well, here goes again. Maybe you can understand this factor better than the other one.

The Dems and Union goons are highly skilled at shifting attention during campaigns and elections from the issues, into making the opposing leader "The Issue!" They did this so well with Arnold that it discouraged plenty of voters across the spectrum from going to the polls to help this demonized individual because it just seemed that the whole thing was all about Arnold and this wasn't even a good action movie!!!

So they just fergotaboutit!!! You had them confused with somebody that actually gave a dang!!! (ElkGroveDan already explained some of this to you 4 hours ago but you just won't listen to those in the know!!!)

As I said, I bet the Republican party doesn't even intend to put some sort of similar perhaps better propositions again up for 2006. I think our Republican party machine in this state is just that inept.

For one "the party" doesn't put up initiatives. Groups and interests do. However since you asked, Prop 73 will be back. Now quicher bellyaching.

Agreed, the Democrats are great at demonizing.

Bottom line is the Republican base knows better and most of them stayed home.

Arnold was out there trying to pass this stuff, made commercials and even McClintock did a couple of things.

Why un and down the Republican machine wasn't there a response and an attack back?

Are there similar initiatives with improvements on the same issues being placed on the ballot again in 2006 by the Republican party? I don't think there will be because they are not good at politics IMO.
I think we have entrenched bad politicos.

We need the union deal, a better version of the budget one and the abortion one back. Redistricting wouldn't be a bad one either.

"I think we have entrenched bad politicos."

Ok, since you want to blame "the people," lets get right down to who's fault this really is, ok?

It's you! You have been staying home and not doing like a lot of Demo activist do and plot and scheme 24/7/365 and make political action your personal way of life as if you very being depended upon it! You haven't gone to every city council and county board of supervisors and planning commission and transportation commission and transit authority and LAFCO and fire board and water distric board meeting and taken to the podium during the required "Public Comment" period to pursuade with your rhetoric!!!

You've failed to file to run for any of these local government board seats and have never really paid your dues in any meaningful way as a CA citizen, other than maybe pay some taxes in a extra good year, right?

Now before you get all huffy at me, I can say these things because I HAVE done them!!!

Oh, and I forgot ...go to all the "cause meetings" where one must organize and prepare to fight other political activists, oh and the Republican Central committee meetings... There's so many I can't remember them all even though I did 'em all!!!

WAIT!!! I forgot all the campaign organizational meetings of all your friends running for offices that you MUST serve in order to get reciprocity, y'know...

"I thought you might have noticed that too, having finally changed alliances not too long ago."

Well, I was never truly allied with my former "alliance." LOL. Just registered that way when I was very young. Other than frequent griping about "the government" regardless of party in power, I was not all that politically active until der schlickmeister came along. I think he made a lot of us mostly silent types come out of hiding.

Well Jim, you just reminded me of a mistake I make entirely too often. Most of the Democrats I have encountered were hovering around the local, regional and state governmental meetings and agitating loudly and sometimes rudly for more government give-outs.

The Democrats in my family were rare as hen's teeth, but my coal miner's daughter wife from the Ozarks has a family just loaded with traditional Demos and Union members who are downright conservative in most regards! Harry Truman and FDR and Jack Kennedy Democrats to be sure!!!

Now when JFK was POTUS, I din't like his ways one bit, but now-a-days when I see what the current crop of Demonicrat fanatics are doin and sayin, I think JFK woulda been a way better Republican than any old Arnold SchwartzenRenegger!!!

So whata ya think about that???

...my point is simply - if you have withdrawn support for him...

My support is consistent. I will support conservative and other actions I find positive for the state, whether they are promoted by Arnold, or someone else. My principals and beliefs don't change based on who is in office.

Homosexual Agenda Ping. Plus RINI ping.

Isn't it special? The supposedly Republican Governor appoints a career Democrat pro-abortion lesbian activist who [sic] married her homosexual sex partner as his Chief of Staff and claims there is no light between them. They see things eye to eye.

Nausea.

Freepmail me and DirtyHarryY2K if you want on/off this pinglist.

(okay, that's it for now... pinging later on maybe if warranted.)

This is exactly why I voted for McClintock --- not Ah-nold.

As far as the lesbian/gay comments (above) go: This is the repeatedly-pathetic side of Free Republic. On-and-on about homos. Folks, get a life. Who CARES about gays vs straights. What a bunch of prying busybodies Freepers are, on this issue. I think they ARE gay, so preoccupied are they by it. It's ridiculous.
