Supreme Court LIVE THREAD: Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood
Posted on 11/30/2005 9:33:51 AM PST by disraeligears
I've looked but there doesn't seem to be a live thread on this Supreme Court argument on abortion being re-aired by C-Span just moments after it finished. Souther and Scalia are going at it right now.

Instead of a "Live Thread", shouldn't this be a "Same Day on Tape Delay Thread"??? ;-)

Kennedy appears to be on the right side on this one.

Roberts appears to want to save the NH statute also.

I have an idea. Can we pass a law that any abortion provider must inform the "patient" that she has the right to ask for a sonogram and, if she asks for one, it must be provided free of charge, even if she chooses not to have the abortion?
I very much think this would expose the abortion industry.

I just tuned in. Is the woman speaking Ayotte? Or do both sides have female counsel? The one on right now isn't doing very well, but in reality, most justices know where they stand before the arguments.

I should add, I have it on radio, so I can't see what everyone else is seeing.

Justice Roberts is really exposing Planned Parenthood. The whole thing is a red herring. They are trying to use the supposed problem with the emergency procedure to strike down the whole statute. Seems Roberts gets it.

Thank you. I figured maybe C-SPAN was showing pictures of who was speaking, but I've now heard enough of the argument to figure out what's going on.

Dalven arguing that any delay would cause harm to the teen. Scalia contends a brief delay to contact a judge would not cause harm. Dalven argues that if it will be such a brief delay for a cursory call, then the call shouldn't be necessary anyway.
