Fox News is advertising that they will no longer be on Sirius Radio. They are making it sound like it's not there choice, wanting us to call Sirius and voice our opinion. So I did, me being a trucker, I just cant go without fox programing. The Tony Snow show included. Now Sirius's customer service rep's are denying this. So what gives? Does anyone have the insight? Should I start shopping for an XM Radio? And finally, where is Tony Snow?
I can't say if it is for his political beliefs, but there is now an all-Springsteen channel on Sirius.
The Roady can be used portable but it needs a power supply. There are other units that have built in power but we're talking 2 or 3 hundred dollars. Delphi makes a piece that the Roady slips into that has rechargables built in. The built in antenna doesn't work that well- don't expect to get a signal unless you're in the open without the external plugged in. One thing that is cool is the built in fm transmitter. I take mine camping and plug the cigarette lighter into one of those 12v jump start boxes. Can tune it in on a boombox or car radio up to 30 ft. or so.
I'll second that. On Monday, I ordered a Pioneer AirWare from the XM Radio Store. Had to try three times to get the order to be processed. I called in to get the UPS Tracking Number and was on hold for ~1 minute - so that was encouraging.
I'm really looking forward to again hearing The Truckin' Bozo - really like Dale. And the fact that I will be able to hear all NHL and MLB games made it a no brainer for XM Radio.
I have the AirWare and love it. Had a Roady II, POS that it was.
Piece of advice. The antenna headphones are a must for portable listening. That is what I ordered from the XM Store. 24.99 (Koss brand which does the trick) from them, about 40.00 from other online sources. Have not seen them in any retail store. Trust me, I looked and looked.
The XM Store is now sold out. If you want it for outside listening, walking, yardwork, etc. they are a must.
Just a heads up before the Christmas rush.
Here ya' go, works perfectly!

XM is or is about to begin supplying DIRECTV with their music channels. I suspect this is not much to the liking of the Sirius management. So I'm betting it is Sirius with the problem. OTOH, Murdoch buying XM one of these days would not be the shock of a lifetime and that could be part of the equation. Knowing Murdoch it would be a buy XM and then "merge" with a weakened (no Fox News for example) Sirius.
Oops! I forgot this one, too...

I just signed up for FIVE years.
I tried calling Sirius just now to convey my dissapointment in their decision to drop Fox. They just put me through to some holding queue with aweful music so I finally gave up.
As an insider at Sirius (I work for them), I can tell you the official line.
Sirius and Fox are renegotiating the extension to their contract, and Sirius will do what is best for their customers and stockholders.
Now, I will tell you that we have had a LOT of people who have called in and e-mailed on both sides. Frankly, I think that panties on BOTH sides got twisted over a technical glitch.
What's the latest??
Thanks in advance.
When I read this post the first time, I wrote Sirius and informed them that I would be cancelling my service with them if they were dropping FNN. By return mail I got back their assurance that FNN was staying and not to worry.
Sirius is a joke.
Lets see, will I keep my Sirius subscription so I can listen to Howard Stern for a 1/2 hour in the morning or switch to XM where I will be able to listen to Fox News the rest of the day.
No brainer, I will cancel Sirius by this Friday if this is not fixed.
I believe Fox News is on 133
"financial demand"
Just speculating. This could mean that Fox wanted them to lower their rates. But it could also mean that Sirius wanted to raise them. Either way Sirius would probably spin it as a "financial demand".
I just noticed today. Fox is gone. I'm ticked. It is the only reason I subscribed. I guess I'll have to buy a new radio and switch to XM.
