I understand that the ruthlessness displayed by the Japanese made our soldiers in the Pacific despise them--to the point where Jap prisoners were not to be taken. They said that the only good Jap was a dead Jap.

It took two atomic bombs to shock the Japanese into surrender. I wonder what it will take for the Islamofascists.

I recall a show where some Marines were talking. They said they took very few prisoners in the Pacific. Most Japs fought to the death. Those few that didn't they killed anyway. One of the guys said something to the effect of "We were too busy fighting to worry about prisoners. And we were so remote - what would we do with them anyway?"

I browsed a book in a Doctor's office about medics. One medic wrote about being one of the first into a German prison/work camp (Jewish). They searched out the Germans, lined them up and shot them right then and there - the medic shooting too. (So much for Hawkeye Pierce!)

One last note. I heard on the radio that one of the "peace group" guys that was captured in Iraq is blaming the U.S. for his circumstances!

I had a cousin who enlisted in the Marine Corps on Dec 8, 1941. Fought from Guadalcanal in the 1st Mar Div throughout the war. Till the day he died he wouldn't buy anything Japanese. His hatred for the Japanese lived with him until his death. Yet he would never talk about what he did during his battles. All he ever said was that he was an armorer. Yea.
Good men don't speak of their feats of heroism during wartime. They just did what they had to do to live. I think that is what the liberals forget about when it comes to the war. It is not politics. It is Duty, Honor, Country
