Lieberman, one of the most hawkish Democrats in the Senate
I don't know Joe that well, is that an accurate statement? Is he up for re-election next year? Otherwise nice article to read. Good to hear as opposed to the usual garbage from the 'Doom and Gloom' prophets.

Yes Lieberman is a big time hawk, and pretty much the only national-level Democrat who supports Bush's war efforts. He is a breath of fresh air and Democrats would do well to listen to him.

It's obvious that the Senator has no Presidential aspirations in '08.With columns like this,he would garner fewer votes in the primaries than would Zippy The Wonder Slug.

LOL! It is nice though to read something like this. Looking at the past track record of the Dims, I wonder what will happen to them in the next 20 years....

I believe Lieberman is up for re-election next year. He didn't resign in 2000 when running for the VP slot with Algore.

CT is pretty liberal, no? Wonder how this will help/hurt his odds? Be interesting to see...

No, but a McCain type might have him as Veep. Maybe he sees the libs don't have a chance in '08 and he's bucking for a moderate GOP candidate to pick him up. Maybe.

He isn't conservative, but he's certainly not on the Extreme Left, like Gore and Kerry (to mention recent losers), or Clinton and Clinton (who are Extr. Left though they try to tell people that they're not).

I meant in terms of him being re-elected as a senator, not president.

I have never voted for a democratic president in my adult life, but I would vote for Lieberman over McCain or many of the other RINOs any day.

I meant in terms of him being re-elected as a senator, not president. Oh. My bad. I think he'll fine, but I'm not a lib and I don't live in CT. I live in my own liberal hell (CA). Boxer, Feinstein, Pelosi, Villaraigosa, Waters, Watson...Tylenol...

I'm reflexively skeptical whenever a Democrat says something that actually expresses principle over party...I wonder what they're really up to.
Liebermann talks a good game...but remember who he chose to run with in 2000.

Maybe he sees the libs don't have a chance in '08 and he's bucking for a moderate GOP candidate to pick him upI absolutely can't see McCain getting the GOP nomination. I'll wager that McCain can't see himself getting it and I'll bet that Lieberman understands this as well.
So the best that Lieberman can hope for is the VP slot on a third party ticket.I'd be surprised if he would settle for that.McCain would, but not Joe.
To: daler
but remember who he chose to run with in 2000That's the main thing I hold against Lieberman. I think he leased his soul out (rather than sold it outright) to run with Gore. It looks as if the lease expired and he is in control of his own soul again.

Joe L has consistently supported the war in Iraq, the GWOT, and even been supportive of Bush rather directly on these matters. I think he is sincere, as he has been steadfast since 9/11 on these matters.
I agree with him on little else, but I give him his due on this issue.

"...but remember who he chose to run with in 2000".
I remember he ran with Al Gore and became "pro choice" on abortion. As an Orthodox Jew this is a no - no. And I think his stance on the Iraqi war stems from the fact that he is Jewish and is alarmed about Israel if we pull out. While I agree with him about Iraq, I did not trust him with Al Gore and do not trust him now.

It is still nice that he would come out with something like this, nice that it would get some press. Then again, I did get this from Fox ;-)

Who has the CT ping list?
Ann Coulter is speaking at the UConn Student Union Theater on 7 Dec.
Who else is going?
