Bush not serious about immigration
msnbc ^ | 29 Nov. 05 | Tucker Carlson

Posted on 11/29/2005 9:09:57 AM PST by Icelander

President Bush announced a new immigration program on Monday, and was immediately accused of playing politics. The president, his opponents said, isn't more concerned about immigration reform than he used to be. He's just weaker politically. And there's no quicker way to win back the affection of the disaffected Right than to snarl about illegal aliens. For once, the spin is right: Bush isn't serious about immigration;

Agreed. As far as the border goes, I gave up on Bush a long time ago. Yesterdays speech here was nothing more than empty promises by a president who has proven through inaction he does not really give a damn about the problem.

According to the latest figures, we have "absorbed" up to 11 millions illegals already. Surely this is enough cheap labor to support our industries "desperate" for workers, since we Americans have grown "lazy".

A recent survey of Mexican citizens showns that over 50% of them wish to move to the US.

Cheney is CFR so it would seem he supports their proposed Socialist Community of North America.

He's right. Neither party is remotely interested in immigration reform, each for its own reasons. The Republicans don't want to piss off Business, and the Dems don't want to export voters.
All of us pay for this inertia in the form of higher taxes, more crime, and cultural disintegration, and we do so in exchange for marginally lower product and service prices. Legal immigration ought to be the rule, not the exception. But that would mean standards, quotas - and enforcement - which most Washington politicians won't even address.

It is amnesty.

Of course it's amnesty, and anyone listening to Bush's unintelligible, almost desperate ramblings on this subject knows it. Americans won't buy it.

He has sold us out, and there's no way for him to explain it.

Bush is lying when he says that.

True! Until he explains how in six years it will be practical and affordable to deport the guests whom he assures us that it is impractical and unaffordable to deport now while they are illegals, he is just blowing sunshine up our butts. It is amnesty on a six year delay timer and to say it is anything but is a bald face lie. He has no intention that these illegals will ever leave.

For the sealed-border crowd, there is nothing Bush could ever do that would be good enough.

He could build the tallest wall, and when it failed to keep 'them' out, as it would... they'd just say he didn't build it tall enough.

I and the wife mailed off hand written letters expressing our extreme displeasure with Bush on this issue.

I suggest others take a few minutes to do the same. Emails have the same effect as zero to garner a reaction, deluge the WH with snail mail.
