The author was discussing this story on C-Span yesterday or the day before.
I must admit I've not been following this story, but I recall hearing that ALOT of people in Washington are....concerned.
"Sordid" is a perfect adjective. And Ohio Representative Bob "Mouth-piece" Ney has a lot of `splainin' to do, entering this mafia-like 'strong-arm' BS in the Congressional record.
The Dems could really be hammering the `pubs with this, but they'll stick with their usual empty rhetoric.

As a long term Florida resident I shouldn't be surprised that these two crimes are connected in a bizarre way, but I am. The craziest things happen here.

Preston Gates is Bill Gates father (just as a matter of interest for whatever it is worth...probably nothing).
After many interruptions, I finally was able to finish the post as I sat at the edge of my chair. Great post! This is a keeper. I plan to e-mail it to several relatives.
Let all those crooks go to jail. I don’t care whether they have Rs or Ds after their crooked titles.
I hope these crooks rot in jail.

This story is really disgusting. The interview indicated that I understand that some congressmen in the GOP are really nervous now.
Bill Gates father is William H. Gates, Sr. He is in his 80's and retired from the law firm.

Oh oh….Sorry. I have been misinformed for many years.
Please clue me in. A Gates also has a law firm in Washington (Seattle) which I had been informed was Bill’s father. Stupidly, I took if for granted it was the same law firm.
I would appreciate and would be eternally grateful to you for a quick abbreviated (so as not to waste your time) historical correction so I don’t make this mistake again.

The reason I thought his name was Preston is because lack of commas in the title.
I don’t know who the heck Preston is (thought it was Preston Gates). Yes, the second name on the billboard is Gates. As you said, it refers to “William Gates,” father of Bill.
Anyway, Bill Gates' father (retired) was part of that law firm.
I’m glad that is cleared that up once and for all.

It’s time we vote all those congresscrooks into the slammer and let them rot there.
Like other large law firms they have offices in several cities. IIRC Preston, Gates, and Ellis headquarters is in Seattle, but they do a lot of lobbying-related work in DC.
