WHy not offer a reward for turning them in??? You know why that will not happen? Because they provide for a cheap labor force. That is just a fact. You will not get the govt. to send back droves unless there is a world wide depression and americans are starved for those jobs. THAT is a fact.
Dane, Dane, Dane whatever are we going to do with you? You are getting cross-wise of the majority here again and down-right insulting. If we ignore you will you go away? If we don't ignore you will you go away? Tell us Dane what will it take?
Which is why I limited my criticism of "cheerleading for the President on certain critical issues most Americans won't."
The President isn't my idol; no man ever will be, therefore, he's not "untouchable" to criticism whenever and wherever he strays from the conservative platform or from doing what is right...and amnesty, whatever the colorfully-disguised phrase used, isn't right for America. It's been done before by Reagan; if it had worked, we wouldn't be here, all over again.
Hmm, union though. What do you think of your dues going to democrat party cronies, and giving your union bosses a lavish lifestyle.
Hey I'm all for union members witholding their union dues, or with them not being coercered in joining a union.
JMO, you will disagree with my above.
You should get paid what the market values you for, that's it. The conceit that there is so minimal comfort that you deserve by God is anti-American leftist Marxist claptrap.
If anyone in your family had ever lived as a subsistence farmer, living by the grace of God and the weather, then you'd be damn thankful for a pot of even just beans. Nobody guaranteed dust bowl farmers in Oklahoma that they'd not starve to death....and there weren't so many illegals flooding in then.
Yet you bang on your computer complaining IN CAPS on FR, and you claim you work 70-80 hrs a week. Try posting less about your complaints, and you might not have to "work" so many hours.
But what happens when wages are lowered because the government turns a blind eye to the illegal importation of workers? There by flooding the market?
Guess what Dane? My Union just left the AFL-CIO, one of the reasons being as you said. Blindly supporting politicians. We find working for the betterment of our workers to be a higher priority.
Maybe he just needs a hug and a cookie.
"To appease Latin America before they slip over to the other side. (Chavez's demented ass)"
That's more or less it. There's a strong marxist movement in Mexico playing 'populist' against the quite real corruption there.
Right now the primary force holding Mexico together is the huge influx of $ sent home by Mexican immigrants, both legal and illegal. Without that $ there's a serious possibility that Mexico could collapse and a marxist Chavez type take over. This would obviously be Very Bad; you can imagine the trouble if Al-Q types were not merely able to cross through unconcern on the part of Mexico, but actively funded, sheltered, and abetted by a marxist Mexican government.
Personally I think we ought to seal the border and let the chips fall, with the intention of helping Mexico reform, if it collapses, in a less corrupt and not marxist shape. I think that's a better long-term intention than propping up Mexico as-is. But, I thought it'd be helpful to point out that at least a sizable chunk of our policies toward Mexico are not driven by domestic economics. That tends to get lost in the shuffle.
So you are a union goon, and IIRC the unions that recently left the AFL-CIO are going on to more "green"(leftist) pastures.
Did you all join the SEIU?
I've never seen you post nicely to anyone, ever.
Yeah whatever Ms. Manners wannbe.
Just because you are union does not makle you a "goon". And in some caes it is the smart thing for a working man to do. After all business has clout with politicos becasue of their size and money, why shouldn't the workers do the same and let the market decide.
1. Cheap labor for businesses.
2. The GOP desperately wants the Hispanic vote. They tend to be socially conservative (family values, etc.) if a bit to the left when it comes to social services. If the GOP can get their vote, it would offset the vote of blacks and other minorities and help the GOP to appear a little less white.
Wow, that's money down the drain.
"Those "small" companies include major construction companies"
All the examples I've seen involve small subcontractors who hire illegal aliens. Large construction companies rarely hire all the workers directly and contract our most of the work.
Same thing with cleaning contractors. Where Wal-mart got in trouble is that some of the executives apparently knew their contractor hired illegal aliens. I never heard how that turned out. I heard it was settled, but it was never really clear how much they know and how sure they were of the information.
All the raids illegal immigrant raids of employers I've heard of involved subcontractors. Large companies make too big of targets for enforcement and have too much to lose. Small contracting companies can simply disolve and reform under a different name if people start asking too many questions.
I don't know much about large agricultural companies and how they work. Things could be different there, but I haven't heard of any large scale arrests, please point me to information on some of them if you have it.
I spoke with the builder who built my home about this. It seems like most of the roofers and a good number of the framers around here don't speak english.
The builder says he simply doesn't have much control over who the subs hire. If they do the job well, they get paid, if they don't he finds a different contractor. He doesn't have the authority to investigate their employees.
"Give it a break, 11-15 million people is the stuff of major employers."
Do you understand the absurdity of that statement? The majority of Americans don't work for large companies.
Wal-mart is the largest employer in the US with a total of 1.2 million employees. However their business supports a much larger number of other companies that hire cleaners, shipping companies, companies that produce things sold by Wal-mart, importers. Some of these are large companies, but others a lot of them are not.
If you look at most any large industry you'll find a lot of contract labor and subcontracted work.
Your assertion that they have to work for large companies because there are lots of them isn't supported by the facts. It might be true, but where's the proof? The evidence I've seen points toward lots of small companies and lots of contracting companies hired by larger companies.
Yeah tell me about it, if all conservative were like dane I would leave and never come back.
Yeah ask jimmy hoffa, if that's you can find his remains, the current speculation is that they are under Giants Stadium.
