But, but, but . . . isn't that good? Don't we want our presidents to set policy based on the nation's long-run best interests rather than on the ephemeral views of the day?

When a President thinks that way, the MSM's ability to influence the national agenda is reduced to zero - that's Hersh's real problem with Bush.

These people - - the liberal Democrat partisans like Hersh - - seem incapable of digesting the fact that Bush won twice, has over three years left as President, and can govern as if he doesn't have to be concerned with getting re-elected. Because indeed Bush DOESN'T have to be concerned with getting re-elected. D'oh!
