They installed Windows...
Thousands. Standing room only on each trip. Believe it or not, the Monorail operates at a profit of around 2 million a year.
When there's a problem with the system, they charter a couple small buses and make the run from Westlake to Seattle Center for free.
Just give me a minute while I think up a catchy song!
Okay, let's try . . . "Morals and ethics and carnal forbearance-" wait, that won't work.
BUMP
It cracks me up to listen to the media types explain exactly this procedure and then say that the "cause of the crash is still not known at this time", LOL!""
The real cuase of the crash is come developer finding a way to pay off some planning dude so that he could get his "realignment" to put in his development.
Common sense has been totally bred out of the last 2+ generations, IMO.
Thanks to you and others for clearing that up; I'd forgotten about the track mods when the Westlake Center was built. I have lunch in there a couple of days a week (Mediterreanean Avenue restaurant) and usually sit right near the doorway to the monorail. And as someone said, if they rely on visual cues not to have both trains in the curve at the same time, it's amazing it took so long for this to happen.
Well, it's obvious now that the taxpayers need to build a tunnel for it, or just raise the street level 32' again like they did in 1890. Added benefits would be effectively creating a second story to the Seattle Underground tour, and solving the Viaduct & Seawall crisis's.
Look, Windows is a great one-size-fits-all operating system for end-users. For people that like the useless fluff, don't mind the inexcusable delays, and tolerate the crashes, Windows fits the bill. It is a joke, however, as a mission-critical solution. Even Oracle - itself a joke - runs rings around anything Micro$oft can offer.
I'm sure someone will find a tax increase in this mess somewhere.
Just another exposed tip of Seattle's deely-ingrained corruption.
