My Post Office Experience Today
Posted on 11/28/2005 2:17:49 PM PST by maineman
My daily trip to the USPO was one for the books today. As I was having my packages stamped a Women came along side of me and asked the clerk if they sold any stamps that didn't promote violence. The clerk was miffed, I was pissed, as she cut into my space. The Women said the American Flag stamps represent murder around the World. I suggested she move to Cuba as she will be able to buy several books of Castro stamps. She called me a Bush-Fool, a new one to me. I asked her to tell me exactly how we were killing people around the World...I-R-A-Q was her answer. I told her we were spreading Democracy and asked her to get back in line. As I left she yelled that I was a rightwinger, I told her "MERRY CHRISTMAS". That ticked her off. Thought I'd share.

I am not that well versed in stamps. What were the "blue and gold ones"?

What a dolt. Everyone knows you can always buy those nice little heart stamps they use for wedding invitations. Oh wait. Those probably promote marriage and besides, I think you have to pay extra for them. ; )
Funny story. It's funny that liberals are always looking for a good fight over how we shouldn't fight.

My word! That takes gall. Even if I disagreed with someone, there is no way I would ever say something like that. Personal, mean and rude. Blech.
Tell that mom the rest of us love her son and thanks for raising him right.

As I left she yelled that I was a rightwinger, I told her "MERRY CHRISTMAS".
I responded to a co-worker last year with "Happy celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ son of God." When she wished everyone Happy Holidays in the lunchroom. She got a blank look on her face and has hardly spoken to me since.
I love being an instigator.

Aren't those people just unbelievable? You did good, I hope it didn't upset your day. I tend to take these things too personally and would have been a hazard driving for several hours had it happened to me.

Tell that mom the rest of us love her son and thanks for raising him right. Will do. My bet is that if moms ever collected notes they could write a book about incredibly rude statements made by individuals while standing in lines. A lot of the extremists out there act as if they will burst if they don't say something stupid. Unbelievable.

What I have never understood about anyone who is confrontational is what they hope to accomplish. Did they expect her to say, "Why, I never thought of it that way?"
I make it a point to not be confrontational because it is generally the least effective way to convince others of the "rightness" of a point of view. It can be fun, it can be cathartic, but it is never productive.
Fortunately, they haven't figured that out yet. And I suppose I'm kind of grateful for that.

Good grief. I had no idea they were so PC.

The USPO does offer some wonderful sets occassionally. This womyn has her head up her duffel bag and she likes the view.
