Actually, the CM just codified the ten planks in one place. All of the concepts contained therein were known and debated in "the academy" before 1848. IOW, this was not new information.

Marx and Engels put them into book form and attempted to justify the benefits of their implementation. The "intelligensia" then ran with the CM and what we have today is the result.
