The clock was ticking Monday on Prime Minister Paul Martin's minority Liberal government, with an early evening no-confidence vote likely to trigger the fall of the government after 17 months on power.
The vote likely to be supported by all three opposition parties is expected to go before the House of Commons shortly after 6:30 p.m. EST.

I wouldn't count the Liberals out just yet. They could always buy another vote or two.

spent three days last week in Quebec. with the exception of one grouch at a gas station, everybody we met was polite and nice as ever. even though we didn't speak french, the locals were most accomodating and very pleasant.
remember these are the folks who braved certain nastiness when they shielded our people in Iran whilst the embassy was held hostage.

I think this time it is insurmountable. Every seat that the NDP gains because of this move will cost the Liberals.

I was listening to the debate in Parliament on U.S. Thanksgiving day (they wanted me out of the kitchen at my in-laws' place). The Conservatives were really slamming the Liberals, and the Bloc Quebecois leader also hit them good. The theme of both parties is "They've misused the public monies and the trust given them, time to have a new government." However, this Conservative-Bloc Quebecois alliance is very unstable, and if the Conservatives don't get enough votes, then the Liberals and the NDP will form the next Government.

The Liberals and NDP will be running the show after the election. Quebec will vote Bloc. The west will vote Conservative. The unemployed fisherman in the Maritimes and the brainwashed masses in Ontario will vote Liberal, and that will give them another minority. They'll sell their souls to the NDP to make sure they stay in power. I feel sorry for Canada. They cant get rid of the corrupt scum because of the fractured voting blocs in the country.

Except that this time the NDP is pulling the lynch-pin on the Liberals... It is conceivable, but I don't see the NDP propping up the Liberals after the next election, now that they've brought Martin down.

That is an unfortunately accurate assessment.

Well, perhaps the long night of idiot Canadian liberalism is about to come to a close.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that for all of their promises, all of their brainy ideas, they never, ever deliver. As a matter of fact, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that every brainy liberal idea that promises utopia ends in corruption and crime.

Here's hoping....
Then just watch the liberal media start their massacre of anyone that even resembles a conservative.

I agree with that we will never get rid of the socialists, but simply for the reason that Canadians are essentially liberals and leftists at heart.
